Better Texture

Here's the original Steamguide with additional Mirrors.

It's sad to see that the lowres texture didn't get any kind of an improvement from PS3 to PS4 and as I'm so damn lazy (and not skillfull with Photoshop), I upscaled every Texture to x 2 using Waifu 2x. For the curiouse who doesn't know what Waifu is, here a quick explanation: Click me ^_^

Update:

I've redone all texture files except FFX-2 with a superior Algorithm and Models using ESRGAN. The models used retained most details and added some in the upres process where Waifu would normally kill fine details like leather (see new comparison shots down below).

How to install:

• []Grab Kaldaiens excelent Mod first -> http://steamcommunity.com/app/359870/discussions/0/364041517007524857

[]Follow his install guide (follow the automatic one ;))

[]Download the mainfile for FF X and/or optional file for FF X-2

[]Unrar my archive to Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster\UnX_Res\inject\textures (must be this location)

[]Make sure you play with high texture settings (Esc and go to the video menu) or else the new texture will not load

[]Play the Game and enjoy! :D

  What I touched:

  • []Every NPC I could encounter on my 4x fast playtrough

[]Every PC, also the Highres Version alltough they don't gain a lot instead of the lowres - (Excluded from 3. 0 as the mods here, especially the Catachrism version are way more superior and really, get those bad boys instead)

[]Every weapon and gear I could get my hands on (also all celestial weapons)

[]Every Monster (whole monsterfarm included) as well as every Aeon and Dark Aeon

    Please note:

I'm not an artist. I just used the upres algorithm presented by Waifu and it does a very fine job (at least for my taste) in upscaling and cleaning the textures.

As in Fullmetal Alchemist, Tokakoka (You must sacrifice something to gain something. Equivalent Exchange ^^) is applied. As a sideeffect texture may or may not loose some details but on the other hand you get a more beautiful and less pixalated texture instead.

    Update:

As mentioned above, the old files use Waifu as upres algorithm which kills some fine details. For the new release I used ESRGAN with different models to get the best results. The Result, albeit it is a bit more blurry than Waifu, should speak for itself. :)

As some assets are also present in FFX-2 HD, they'll also be loaded in. ;)

    Additional note:

I had to erase the old files as I received too many questions as they don't worked anymore.

So I decided to delete the complete package. If you want to download the X-2 standalone package, please make a new folder in "UnX_Res\inject\textures\unx_old" and copy the FF X-2 textures in it.

On the other hand this brings some great benefits. The old mod did lack some textures as they weren't grabbed by UNX to start with.

So this should be way more complete now. :)

The FFX standalone file goes into "UnX_Res\inject\textures". Just unrar it there.

Now with 4x Waifu. Check the comparison!
