FFX-2 Item Tweaker

FFX-2 Item Tweaker lets you edit HP/MP restore values, stat boosts, sell price, item type, and other parameters of each item through a tabbed GUI, without opening a hex editor. Only the English item.bin is supported.

Names - batch export / import (JSON)

Export every item name and description to a single .json file. Handy if you're replaying the game and want to rename the items to match your tweaked stats. The JSON file includes the length limits and allowed-character rules as metadata, so an LLM can generate a full set of consistent fantasy-style names in one pass.

How to use:

1. Extract FFX2_Data.vbf (VBF Browser / ff12-vbf).

2. Navigate to "ffx_ps2\ffx2\master\new_uspc\battle\item.bin."

3. Open the file in FFX-2 Item Tweaker (File > Open, or Ctrl+O).

4. Select an item from the list, edit the fields, click Apply.

5. Save (Ctrl+S) or Save As (Ctrl+Shift+S).

6. Repack the VBF archive, or use the External File Loader mod.

How to Install:

1. Install Python ( 3. 14+)

From python.org, check the box that says "Add Python to PATH".

2. Install Required Library

pip install customtkinter

3. Run the Program

python FFX-2_Item_Tweaker.py
