📋 About This Mod

A complete gameplay overhaul inspired by (and intended for use with) PostScriptThree's Tweaks. Rebalanced magic/summons/enemy skills, character stat growth rework into a pseudo-job system, multiple new materia, stronger enemies/bosses, a

FF7U 2. 0 -

This a major release b/c it is such a massive dump of minor changes that I had to make in a relatively small window. That being said after scraping the rust off I think I'm getting better at this.

Please note that 2. 0 is not 100% compatible with 1. 0 saves - if you notice anything weird, I advise you to trash certain problematic materia. Also note that the field text/display changes are - as I learned - very sensitive to even minor tweaks made by other non-gameplay mods (i.e. a mod that fixes button display text from PC commands to a PS controller screws up updated display text in a number of areas, so just be aware of that. Compatibility is otherwise mostly the same).

New features

  • []Enemies in the first hour or two of the campaign have nerfed HP to make it less obnoxious.[/]

[]No "Job" Materia anymore - the stats pertinent to each characters' role are now built into their weapons.[/]

    []Strength, Vitality, and Spirit Plus[/]

[]Buffed Cover, Counterattack, and Long Range materia[/]

    []Reworked Materia stat bonuses/penalties[/]

[]Field display text mostly fixed and updated[/]

[]Mechanical overhauls to Yuffie and Vincent's sidequests - stay out of the woods early on, and have fun opening the safe ;)[/]

[]Rebalanced magic/summoning - ignoring Magic Defense is now a nearly exclusive feature of Summons, giving them a proper niche throughout the game[/]

[]Cait Sith and Aerith healing weapons buffed/re-worked[/]

[]Bugs with Chocobos/Yuffie mostly addressed (see changelog)[/]

[]A certain green Chocobo has a surprise for you[/]

[]New HARDER No-Gil mode/options - can't even select "sell" in the menu and nothing drops any gil[/]

[]When you fight Jenova Synthesis it will finally make sense why the Planet made WEAPONs to fight her[/]

    []Rewards for Emerald/Ruby WEAPON swapped[/]

[]Updated README and included a FAQ for some help/hints/pointers. [/]

[]This, which I spent an embarrassing amount of time on, for people to reference should they wish to do so.[/]

    Old 0. 1-1. 0 description:

This is the first mod I've ever done. Be gentle.

I WILL BE MAKING FREQUENT BETA UPDATES LEADING UP TO THE FINAL (for a while) RELEASE, BE SURE TO CHECK BACK AND SEE IF 0.x HAS BEEN RELEASED

First off, this is a gameplay mechanics overhaul/challenge mod, and it does not alter the story in any way whatsoever. A big inspiration for this was PostScriptThree(PS3)'s tweaks, and its basically required for using my mod. Specifically, FF7U assumes the following settings from PS3 tweaks active at all times (things will be busted/glitchy/buggy without them):

    1. Break Damage/HP Limit (Always)

    2. Morph As Well & AP Plus Enablers

    3. Multi-linked Slots Enabler (NOT Multi-Linked Slots Equipment, which should be set to "off")

In addition, the mod's difficulty is balanced around enabling the following options (i.e. they're very strongly recommended but not required)

    1. Two Accessories

    2. Limit Command Rework

    3. True Wait & Instant ATB

    4. More Materia Pairs

    5. Counters Add Effects

    6. Easier Steals (Add Luck To Level)

    7. AP Share

    8. Status Speed multiplier @ 2-3x

    9. Enemy Stat multiplier @ anywhere from 1. 1x-2. 0x, OR 1. 0x-1. 5x + 2x ATB.

I also recommend Show Bonuses on Equip screen just as QoL, since a LOT of new bonus stats and equipment won't be apparent otherwise.

With that out of the way...

FF7U is a huge overhaul of a ton of things, and before you read all this, the download contains a bunch of README files that, taken in their entirety, are effectively a FAQ and list of spoilers for the mod (although there's a SPOILER text file that contains all of the info that will make the mod significantly easier/help you if you get stuck, conveniently in a single spot). Everything you could possibly want to know is in those files, and I've included them because I wrote, updated, and maintained them anyway just to keep track of all the changes I'd made, so they're quite thorough (but not still not exhaustive).

If you're interested and want to know more, but don't want gameplay/mechanics/challenge-spoilers, read on. Otherwise - or if you're just that big of a nerd - hit the README files I included. I documented everything, its probably almost as much text as the average GameFAQs file.
