Vivid Colors Reshade Preset
ATTENTION: LONG DESCRIPTION AHEAD, DON'T GO TLDR UNGA BUNGA AND COMMENT BEFORE READ
Intro: This is my reshade preset for Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, known as vivid colors with the preset for other games like FFVII Rebirth and Granblue Fantasy Relink
This is not the same preset file as for other games, it is tweaked and heavily tested on different scenarios to provide better experience and avoid anomalies caused by Reshade or poorly edited shaders.
The tweak made for FFXII sharpen the game micros and macros, so you're going to note it is less blurry (or soften) and cleaner, color correcting and enhancing shadow points, lights and horizons, giving it vivid colors.
Install instructions:
Easy mode: If you're already a Reshade user then simply download the preset, extract at your game folder and load in Reshade.
New User: Download Reshade and then the preset at files tab
- When installing Reshade make sure to select Vivid Colors - Ivalice Edition.ini file (put the file on your game folder so you won't mess things by accident) so it will pick exactly is needed and you won't overload with unnecessary shaders
- Finish install and done, open the game and you can press home and configure Reshade (Extra: Config F1 to turn the preset on/off)
LOOK AT THIS IF CRASH:
My game is crashing on startup after install, what is happening?
I've tested all possibilities I thought, found 5 min. solutions but got crashes again, thing is that FFXII probably can't handle mod loads using dinput8 (vortex) and dxgi (Reshade) at same time, it can load if you keep trying, but the most stable way to properly run the preset with mods I've got was by installing Mod Organizer 2, so that's the sequence:
- Install Reshade and preset
- Install Mod Organizer 2
- Final Fantasy XII Game Plugin for Mod Organizer 2
- Reinstall External File Loader in Vortex using MO2 option (don't use dinput8 or dxgi.dll options)
Once everything is done run the game in MO2, if properly running you can create a shortcut so don't need to open the game by using Vortex or MO2.
This preset is heavy and I'm having fps drops or stutters.
I can confirm the preset is heavy specially at 4k resolution, so you're going to need high end hardware, but you should be fine if running at 1080p.
My game is too dark in some places
I've tested in both 1080p and 4k monitors, results were diferent so this can be solved by contrast and brightness calibration because each user has own preference. Or you can edit the preset by yourself, but is something manageable.
I want to edit some reds, blues, greens and yellows
In ContrastBrightnessSaturation you can edit some specific colors, good thing is that the preset is ready so you don't need to mess up and take hours editing in Reshade, so it can be as a base to your perfect tastes.
That's it, I hope you enjoy.
