📋 About This Mod
Silent C. A. M. P.
I am not a fan of the constant drone of generators while crafting at my C. A. M. P. I was particularly turned off by the scraping and rusty screeching noises put out by the wind turbines. Since the other mod out there did not eliminate the wind turbine noise and removed turret noises (something I did not want to remove), I chose to create my own mod. I've been using it for a while now and just decided to upload it.
I have since added silencers for Cicadas, Crickets and now other C. A. M. P. machines (which I may actually start using myself). Each type of noise is in a separate file, allowing you to pick and choose which sounds you want silenced.
I replace the game audio with tiny, completely silent audio files, and as such, I will not be producing other versions at varying volume levels. I will take requests to silence other annoying noises.
Installation/Removal
All of my audio mods are compatible with the Fallout 76 extension for Vortex, but you are still required to add the filenames into your Fallout76Custom.ini file. The example below is just for the Silent Generators mod, so you will need to add each of the ba2 files you download.
This will obviously get a lot simpler if/when Vortex fully supports Fallout 76.
Manual Installation
-
[]Extract the SilentGenerators.ba2 to your Fallout76 Data folder.
[
]Add the following line to the bottom of the section in your Fallout76Custom.ini file:sResourceArchive2List = SeventySix - ATX_Main.ba2, SeventySix - ATX_Textures.ba2, SilentGenerators.ba2
Manual Removal
-
[]Remove SilentGenerators.ba2 file from your Fallout76 Data folder
[
]Remove ", SilentGenerators.ba2" from sResourceArchive2List string of your Fallout76Custom.ini fileCompatibility
These mods are not compatible with any mod that changes the sound of the various C. A. M. P. machines or insects.

Version History
1. 0 - January 2019 - Initial Release
1. 1 - April 2020 - Updated for Wastelanders - nearly double the number of audio clips for Crickets and Cicadas silenced, a few additional sounds identified and silenced in other files.
Silent C.A.M.P. replaces annoying generator, wind turbine, cicada, cricket, and other C.A.M.P. machine sounds with silent audio files, letting you pick which noises to mute. It requires manual INI edits and is compatible with the Fallout 76 Vortex extension. With 138 endorsements and 2,696 downloads, it's a niche quality-of-life mod for players bothered by ambient noise.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 138 endorsements and 2,696 downloads.
- Modular design lets you pick and choose which sounds to silence.
- Author actively takes requests for other annoying noises.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires manual INI editing, which may be intimidating for less technical players.
- No volume control options—audio is either fully silent or not.
- Last updated in 2020, so compatibility with the current game version is uncertain.
For Fallout 76 players who are annoyed by the constant drone of generators and wind turbines at their C.A.M.P. and want a simple way to mute those sounds without affecting turret noises. Skip if you prefer ambient sound or want adjustable volume levels.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure to add each ba2 file you download to the sResourceArchive2List in your Fallout76Custom.ini, not just the example shown.
- If you already have a sResourceArchive2List line, just append ', SilentGenerators.ba2' (or other ba2 names) to the existing string.
- Use the Fallout 76 extension for Vortex to manage the mod, but you'll still need to edit the INI manually.
