✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 8,360 endorsements and 1.4M downloads—clearly a go-to for performance tweaks
- Simple F4SE plugin that does one thing well: adjusts shadow distance on the fly to keep FPS stable
- Actively updated (Feb 2026), so it's likely compatible with current game patches
⚠️ Cons
- Requires F4SE, which means you need to install and maintain that dependency separately
- Only affects shadow distance; if you're looking for broader performance improvements, this won't cover everything
For Fallout 4 players who struggle with FPS drops in dense areas and want a simple, effective fix without heavy mods. Also for modders who already use F4SE and want a lightweight utility. Skip if you prefer manual shadow settings or want all-in-one performance overhauls.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you install F4SE correctly—it needs to match your game version, and you'll launch the game via f4se_loader.exe, not the default launcher.
- After installing, check the mod's INI file (if any) to adjust the target FPS and shadow distance limits to your preference.
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, let it handle the F4SE installation to avoid conflicts.
