📋 About This Mod

This tweak reduces the density of game engine generated grass, shrubs, bricks and other misc. rubble that is not interactive and serves no other purpose but to be filler. The density has been reduced by 45%-75% for the Vanilla game, Far Harbour, and Nuka World.

This mod does not do anything with precombined meshes or previs. These are record edits to the density of grass-based objects which happen to include the kelp in the sea, various rubble objects like bricks, stones, grass, shrubs, and other misc. clutter.

There are other mods just like this on Nexus but they either took away too much-making everything feel too barren for my tastes and/or has no options in regards to the DLCs. The entire reason I made this was to actually use it with a brilliant little mod called No Ugly Plants and More by amber1019.

This mod works well on its own and it may help slightly with FPS and stutter since the game engine doesn't have to generate as many objects into the world space like vanilla but I recommend using it with the above mod for the best results and improved performance/aesthetics.

This mod will very likely be incompatible with mods like better clutter, Insignificant object remover, or anything that touches the density settings for the grass entry in the main ESM files of Fallout 4. It will be fine with practically everything else.

✅ Pros

  • Solid community backing with 430 endorsements and nearly 10k downloads.
  • Direct performance boost by cutting down on useless clutter.
  • Simple tweak that doesn't touch gameplay or interactive objects.

⚠️ Cons

  • Old mod (last updated 2019) – might not be compatible with newer game patches or DLCs beyond Far Harbor.
  • Only covers vanilla and Far Harbor – if you have other DLCs, you might miss out on rubble reduction there.
  • Potential conflicts with other environment overhauls that add or modify clutter.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout 4 players on lower-end PCs who want a quick performance boost without sacrificing gameplay. Also for anyone annoyed by pointless visual noise. Skip if you're on a beefy rig or if you use heavy environment mods that might conflict.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you have Far Harbor, grab the Far Harbor version to cover that DLC's clutter.
  • Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to easily switch between vanilla and Far Harbor versions.
  • Check your load order – place this mod early to let other mods overwrite if needed.
