How to change your race mid-game
1. Install this mod and requirements
2. Using FO4Edit, create a patch that changes the race of Player(0x7) form under Non-Playable Character category
- Most of custom race mods do this for you so you might be able to do it by sorting out your load order.
3. Launch the game and load a save. Now you need to regenerate the headparts. Do either:
A. Open console, type sexchange twice
B. Open console, type slm 14 and change preset
Technical Information
The game's customization system reads player's chargen race to load some data, such as tints and color palettes, but it never gets updated after leaving vault 111 and it gets baked into the save file. That's what's breaking the looksmenu if you switch your race mid-game.
This mod updates chargen race of the player form after all data has been loaded from the save file.
