📋 About This Mod
After looking for an alt start mod, I decided to make my own. I wanted to start in the cryopod so there would be time for scripts to initialize. More time is needed if you have mods like Workshop Framework and Sim Settlements or Sim Settlements 2 installed.
This is a pretty simple mod that does not alter any vanilla forms. A new game starts like normal. You will be presented with an options menu followed by the menu to name your character and select the SPECIAL stats. Create you character as usual. When you exit the character generation menu you will teleport to the vault and exit the cryopod like normal and finish the "exit the vault" quest.
Startup Options:
-
[]Disable Hammer Markers - Disables the invisible markers in Sanctuary so the Quincy 5 no longer bang on the walls.
[
]Kill Vault 111 Radroaches - For those that are sick of smacking the little buggers. - Auto Open Vault 111 Doors - Closed doors will automatically open when the player approaches. They will close 5 seconds later. This option will be turned off once you exit the vault.
Optional Sim Settlements 2 compatibility:
If you have Sim Settlement 2 v3. 5. 0 or later installed the prebuild menu should show up shortly after exiting the cryopod.
Select "Yes, start it when ready." The length of time to wait will be dependent on how many settlement location mods and SS2 addons you have installed. In a pure vanilla game with all DLC using the default character, this happens just before you get to the pip-boy on the skeleton.
If you fail to select "Yes, start it when ready" you will be unable to use the prebuild system. Vanilla SS2 added an item in the prewar vault to open this menu which this mod skips. You can use the console command `cqf SS2_C3_PrepopulationManager ShowMenu` if you accidentally close this menu.
Warning: Do not use this console command if you have already ran the prebuild system!Installation:
Install/uninstall with a mod manager. Load order should not matter.
Compatibility:
This will most likely be incompatible with other alt start mods as this mod requires triggers from the vanilla startup quests. It is also likely incompatible with any mod that edits the vanilla MQ101 quest.
