Information
What does it do:
-
[]Prevents the game from automatically starting weapon reloads when you empty your mag or try to fire an empty mag.[/]
[]When out of ammo and trying to fire the weapon's attack fail sound will play. If a weapon does not have anything in that entry then it will default to WPNPistol10mmFireDry.[/]
Why:
-
[]While the mods Manual Reload Simple or Tactical Reload had a working implementation for this and were the most important mods for my gameplay, they had a few things that were janky/annoying: manual edits to idles, reloading right after emptying a mag was impossible so you had to wait a bit to be able to reload which was especially annoying during combat (probably the perks/Papyrus script it was using causing the delay), and in Bullet in the Chamber we had to scrap a few features because they did not work with Manual Reload.[/]
[]This plugin, on the other hand, completely disables the code responsible for these automatic reloads which results in no downsides.[/]
Requirements
Mandatory:
-
[]Fallout 4 Script Extender[/]
[]Address Library for F4SE Plugins[/]
[]Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019[/]

[]Ryan for the incredible CommonLibF4[/]

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge download count (279k) shows it's a must-have for many players
- Simple, focused feature that does exactly what it says
- Active development (last updated July 2024) keeps it compatible
⚠️ Cons
- Requires F4SE, so you'll need to set that up first
- No detailed documentation provided, so you might need to figure out installation on your own
- Only affects reload behavior—if you're looking for broader gameplay changes, this is too niche
For Fallout 4 players who want more control over their combat flow and hate the game forcing a reload at the worst moments. Skip if you're fine with the default auto-reload or want a more comprehensive overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you install F4SE first and launch the game through the F4SE loader, not the default launcher.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to handle the plugin files—it'll keep things clean.
- If you're using other reload-related mods, test them together to avoid conflicts.
