My new "Combined Pack" includes this mod!
- Dogmeat is now smarter about his engagements. He will never initiate combat first, only when he or the player is attacked.
- Dogmeat is now virtually undetectable while sneaking, to make him less of a burden and more of a tactical attack dog
- If attacked, Dogmeat will evaluate the attacker correctly. If the target is stronger than Dogmeat (Sentry bot, Mirelurk Queen, Boss, Etc.) he will avoid combat with that target.
- Dogmeat no longer makes idle noises while the player is sneaking. His barking in an enemy compound was starting to get ridiculous.
- Makes Dogmeat's paws a little quieter. This dog is no horse!
- No changes to Dogmeat's appearance was made. There are plenty of Dogmeat re-textures to chose from!

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust: 6,025 endorsements and 777k downloads.
- Script-free means less bloat and fewer compatibility headaches.
- Removes the level cap, so Dogmeat stays relevant in endgame.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2018 — may not be fully compatible with the latest Fallout 4 patches.
- Only affects Dogmeat, not other companions.
For Fallout 4 players who love having Dogmeat as a companion but are annoyed by his clumsy AI and level cap. If you want a more stealthy and capable canine sidekick without script overhead, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for changes to other companions or want a total overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's script-free, you can safely install it mid-playthrough, but make a save before adding any mod.
- If you use a mod manager like Vortex or NMM, let it handle the install to avoid manual file placement errors.
- Check your load order: place this mod after other Dogmeat-related mods to ensure its changes take priority.
