Have you ever told yourself: "m8 these landmines r so ez to defuse, i only need to double tap the activate button and boom it's mine"?
You couldn't be more right (righter?) Jimmy. Mines in Fallout 4 are not... Hardcore. And we know you're an hardcore player, so here at Sagittarius Laboratories, we created this mod that makes mines tougher by comlpetely changing how the mine-defusing system works.
Mine defusing now uses the lockpick minigame, with a twist: if you fail once, something not-so-cool will happen.
Defusing those little explosives will require some AGILITY. This means that if you decide to create a low-agility character, he won't be able to defuse them in an early game, thus forcing you to find other ways to go around them. Having the Demolition Expert perk will also help a bit. The Lockpick perks will play a role too, but probably not that much. Using drugs and other things to improve your agility will now help your survive the dangerous Commonwealth Wasteland!
XBOX version coming soon.
Too lazy to read that small description? Damn it Jimmy. Here's a video then!

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tight niche focus: if you hate the vanilla defuse minigame, this is a direct answer.
- Compatibility is a stated goal, so it should play nice with your load order.
- Respectable traction: 119 endorsements from 5,660 downloads shows real users dig it.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2016, so it might be stale for current game versions.
- No detailed feature list, so you're going in blind on exactly how defusing changes.
- Small mod, so expect limited community support or patches.
For Fallout 4 players who want a more hardcore, immersive survival experience and are tired of the vanilla mine defusing. If you're a purist who avoids gameplay tweaks, skip it—this is purely a mechanic overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a gameplay mod, place it high in your load order to let other mods overwrite if needed.
- Test defusing a mine early to see if the new mechanic suits your playstyle.
- If you use a mod manager, enable it and check for conflicts with other gameplay overhauls.
