📋 About This Mod
The short story:
Changes the Power Armor frame from rusty, white and orange to full metal (jacket), baby! Full version out now with matching hands in first person! :)
Upcoming optional files coming in the future. Install:
Unzip the mod to the following location:
Steamapps > Common > Fallout 4 > Data >
Full folder address: ( Steamapps > Common > Fallout 4 > Data > Textures > Actors > Powerarmor )
PLEASE NOTE: If you haven't already - Remember to go to Fallout4.ini file in Documents/MyGames/Fallout 4 - Open it, and search for the line sResourceDataDirsFinal=Strings\
Then replace that line with:
sResourceDataDirsFinal=Strings\, TEXTURES
Do this and the mod will work!
To uninstall: Just delete the files you unzipped, but leave the Fallout4.ini file alone. It's fine and improved.
The longer story:
I was browsing for power armor frames. I didn't care for the vanilla rusty colors, and some of the other mods just changed it all into black from what I have seen. I may have missed some mods though, so don't take my statement too seriously :) Anyway, that's well and all, but I still want to see what's under the armor plates while I play. So I made a full metal (jacket ;) ) version. I looked at the individual parts, removed/added/highlighted colors on almost every individual nut and bolt on the armor frame. This is why you can see all the details, while still enjoying the original design.
So if you're like me and you want a full metal (jacket!) armor frame, then you Better Call Lars!
Coming up next:
"Brighter version," "Medium version" (Similar to current version), and "Slightly darker"
Other things: Thanks for checking out my mod - Comments are welcome! Thank you Bethesda for making a wonderful game!
And if you like my mods: Come back later and endorse them! :) Thanks!
Full Metal Power Armor Frame is a cosmetic mod for Fallout 4 that replaces the default rusty, white, and orange power armor frame with a full metal finish. It's a simple, lightweight texture swap for players who want a cleaner, more military look. With 561 endorsements and over 10,000 downloads, it's a popular choice for visual tweaks.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 561 endorsements and 10k downloads—clearly a lot of people dig this look.
- Gives your power armor a clean, military vibe that fits the wasteland aesthetic.
- Zero hassle—just a texture swap, so it won't mess with your load order or performance.
⚠️ Cons
- It's purely cosmetic—if you're after gameplay tweaks, this isn't it.
- Only affects the frame, not the armor pieces themselves, so the rusty look might still peek through on some sets.
- Last updated in 2016, so it might not be compatible with newer mods or DLC that alter power armor textures.
For Fallout 4 players who want their power armor to look less like a rusty junkyard and more like a sleek war machine. If you're a screenshot enthusiast or just prefer a cleaner aesthetic, this is a quick win. Skip if you want gameplay changes or if you're using mods that overhaul power armor textures—this might conflict.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a texture mod, place it near the top of your load order to let other mods overwrite it if needed.
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, you can preview the texture before installing to see if you like the metal look.
- Check if you have any other power armor texture mods installed—this one might conflict, so test it out.
