📋 About This Mod
Cubemaps in Fallout 4 are required to all be saved in 128 size, mipmapped, uncompressed DDS files with the appropriate cubemap flags, as all cubemaps are loaded by the game using a texture array. Not even Bethesda followed this rule, unfortunately, and the bug is such that, you can use the same textures, and if you launch the game enough times, eventually the cubemaps will either work... or break... indiscriminately. So you can install any random mod, and you may find that now your cubemaps are broken... or not... depending upon the phase of the moon, how many fingernails you have clipped yesterday, the gravitational pull of Jupiter on Saturn, or how many seconds it has been since your great aunt's cousin's grandaughter has sneezed.
This is a FO4Edit script that scans all textures you have installed, checks if it is a cubemap, and if it is, compresses all of them into the correct format for you.
-
[]Extract FixCubemaps.pas into the FO4Edit\Edit Scripts directory.
[
]Launch FO4Edit and load all your mods.[]Right-click on any mod in the left hand panel and choose Apply Script...
[]In the Script dropdown, select FixCubemaps and click OK.
[]The script will scan all your installed textures and look for cubemaps and compress them into the correct format for you. This may take several minutes, depending on how many textures you have installed.
[]Once complete, it will open File Explorer to the location where it generated the FixCubemaps.zip in the FO4Edit\Edit Scripts\FixCubemaps directory.
[]Install the FixCubemaps.zip file as a mod using your favorite mod manager.
[]Profit.
