📋 About This Mod
This is a very simple mod, made by request.
EVERY nuclear explosion in Fallout 4 -- cars, Nuka Grenades, etc. -- leave a radiation hazard behind for 30 seconds... all except the Fat Man, which is the most powerful nuclear weapon you can get in the game. WHY?! jackiechanconfused.jpg
This was present in every other Fallout game, and now it's back. It works for both the Fat Man and the MIRV.
I made the values slightly stronger than a Nuka Grenade so they aren't too strong or annoying. I also made a stronger version that expands the radius, the lingering time, and the strength by just a little bit more as well. Works great with mods such as Mega Explosions that make the Fat Man have a bigger visual effect.
DETAILS Comparison of values using the vanilla nuka grenade as an example.
Vanilla Nuka Grenade Radius: 24 Lifetime: 30 (seconds) Damage: 5 rads / sec
FMRH Standard Radius: 35 Lifetime: 40 (seconds) Damage: 8 rads / sec
FMRH Stronger Radius: 50 Lifetime: 60 (seconds) Damage: 12 rads / sec
INSTALL - It's just a tiny ESP with some tweaks to the explosions, so just install with NMM or drop into your /data/ folder and activate in your plugins.txt.
COMPATIBILITY - This changes the Fat Man explosion, so mods that increase the Fat Man damage will be incompatible. It's 1 value that would need to be patched, so if you're feeling adventurous, it would take maybe 2 seconds in FO4Edit :) I'll make some patches shortly.
This tiny Fallout 4 mod adds radiation to Fat Man explosions, matching other nuclear blasts in the game and previous Fallout titles. It's a simple fix for a glaring omission, ideal for players who want more realistic nuclear weaponry. With 1,460 endorsements and 22,899 downloads, it's a popular quality-of-life tweak.

For Fallout 4 players who want more realistic nuclear weaponry and appreciate small, focused fixes. If you're a purist who hates that Fat Man blasts don't irradiate the area, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for major gameplay overhauls—this is a single tweak.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a simple ESP, just drop it into your Data folder and enable it in your mod manager.
- Check for compatibility with other mods that alter Fat Man behavior, as they might conflict.
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or NMM, let it handle the installation to avoid manual errors.
