📋 About This Mod
Faction Workshop Manager 2
COMPATIBLE WITH ALL VERSIONS!
Faction Workshop Manager 2 expands settlement gameplay into a dynamic territorial system. Workshops can be claimed, conquered, defended, purchased, and lost. Meanwhile, Faction NPC’s will capture settlements on their own, form alliances, sever supply lines, and go to war whether you’re involved or not.
This is pure gameplay, there are no quests and no clear direction, designed to fit any roleplaying style. Mechanics are simple, easy to use and the level of strategy/difficulty is highly configurable via settings.
This is not intended to be a detailed micro-management system (SS2 is the GOAT for this and this mod doesn’t compare), above all it is made to be compatible with everything and to fit into heavy load orders.
Currently supports 18 factions. A simple step-by-step Patch Guide is available for anyone wanting to inject new factions, no scripting or script knowledge required (Articles & Files).
A full in-depth instruction manual for everything in this mod is available under Articles and under Files for download.
Below is an overview of whats included:
Dynamic Faction Control
Settlements are truly faction owned, recruitment beacons will spawn faction settlers and turrets and settlers are aligned to that faction. Factions are unlocked naturally through gameplay such as completing quests, obtaining perks, and performing actions. A note with the requirements for each faction is added to the players inventory.
Once unlocked, you can:
-
[]Claim unowned settlements by placing faction flags (Buildable under Defense > Guard Posts)[/]
[]Launch full assault quests to capture enemy-held settlements[/]
[]Purchase settlements outright[/]
[]Take leadership of settlements without combat[/]
[]Revert any settlement to Civilian control as a built-in failsafe to shutdown mechanics[/]
Player-Led Assaults
If you choose to go on the offensive, assaults are built around your actual settlements.
-
[]Attackers are drawn from settlers assigned to Defense jobs[/]
[]They use the real armor and weapons you’ve equipped them with[/]
[]Assault size scales with how much territory that faction controls[/]
[]Launching an assault is triggered by each factions Command Holotape (Built under Chemistry Workbench) and costs caps[/]
[]Victory transfers ownership, affects supply lines, and spawns initial faction settlers[/]
NPC-Led Faction Wars
Faction-owned settlements (player owned & unowned) have a daily chance to be attacked by their enemies. The chance scales w

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tunable complexity: you can go from basic ownership to a full war sim, so it fits both casual and hardcore playstyles
- Active community: 83 endorsements and 7k downloads show it's got a following, not a dead mod
- Frequent updates: last touched May 2026, so it's still being maintained
⚠️ Cons
- Niche appeal: if you're not into faction warfare or settlement management, this won't change your game
- Potential conflicts: mods that alter faction behavior or settlement ownership could clash—test with your load order
- Config depth might overwhelm: with all those options, you'll need to spend time tweaking to get the experience you want
For players who want their game world to feel alive, with factions actually fighting over territory and resources. If you're a settlement builder who likes watching AI factions evolve, this is for you. Skip if you prefer a static world or don't care about faction politics.
