📋 About This Mod

OVERVIEW

Tired of your settlers just milling around after working hours with nothing to do.  Are they wearing their boogie shoes and have nowhere to bust a move?

We already have other mods here on Nexus that add dance poses and/or replace or add idle animations, but they all require console to use or some other player interaction to activate.  Now you can get those exact same dance idles and animations without any special action required beyond building the rugs.  This mod will let you craft invisible rugs in your settlements that your settlers will randomly interact with.  The rugs don't need to be assigned, and each rug will add one happiness to your settlement.

Since I'm not a modeler/animator or scripter myself, please see the Credits section for a list of the other mods and authors that made this mod possible.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • []Download and install Dancecyclopedia by radbeetle.  The mod has to be active to get the animation files, but you don't need the esp file, so the esp can remain unchecked/undeployed if so desired.

[]Download and install Build Your Own Pool or Invisible Furniture by Akarnan.  All we need is the "AKIFVisibleMarkerScript.pex" file, so again, one mod or the other (or both) has to be active, but you don't need the esp file(s) if you don't want to use those mods.

[]Download and install this mod.  Yes, my esl/esp is required.

[]Please be sure to endorse Dancyclopedia and whichever mod(s) from Akarnan you use.

  • The rugs are craftable with your regular workbench under the Furniture/Miscellaneous section for some cloth and rubber.  You can see the rugs as you craft them but they turn invisible when not in workshop mode.

    CREDITS

My mod would not be possible without the following mods and mod authors.  Please give them their well deserved endorsements and kudos.  In no particular order:

    - Dancyclopedia by radbeetle.  All of the dances from Dancyclopedia have been included in my mod, so without this mod my mod wouldn't exist

    - Bethesda Mod School Resources by kinggath, Sebbo, and the Sim Settlements Team.  This resource is the source that radbeetle used to create Dancyclopedia

    - Build Your Own Pool and Invisible Furniture by Akarnan.  Akarnan already had the perfect script to do exactly what I wanted, and I use both of those mods in my own settlements.

    - Skyrim Dance Animations by Invalidfate.  Invalidfate left permission to use their mods on their profile page.  I've included and renamed the Skyrim Dance and Booty Shake dance animations in this mod that invalidfate brought over from Skyrim.

    - Dance Animation Modder Resource by umpa.  Umpa was also kind enough to give permission to use their resources on the mod page, and this is the sourc

✨ Key Features

Craft rugs that trigger dance animations for settlers.
Rugs generate happiness for your settlement.
ESL-flagged ESP won't count against your mod limit.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid community backing with 456 endorsements and over 10k downloads.
  • ESL flag means it won't eat into your mod limit—great for load order hoarders.
  • Adds both visual life and a gameplay benefit (happiness) to settlements.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in April 2022, so it might not be fully tested with the latest game patches.
  • Only adds rugs—if you're looking for deeper settlement mechanics, this won't scratch that itch.
  • Potential conflicts with other mods that alter settlement happiness or add similar craftable items.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout 4 settlement builders who want to add a fun, animated touch and a happiness boost without extra mod slots. If you're into role-playing or just like seeing your settlers groove, this is a no-brainer. Skip if you want major gameplay overhauls—this is a simple, focused addition.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's ESL-flagged, you can place it anywhere in your load order, but keeping it near other settlement mods helps with organization.
  • Craft the rugs at a settlement workbench under the Furniture or Decor category—check your crafting menu after installing.
  • Place rugs in high-traffic areas to get settlers dancing more often and maximize the happiness bonus.
