📋 About This Mod
Xbox Version available here
To avoid having tree branches on distant trees here you can either use the standard LOD file uploaded here which is for the vanilla game, or you can create your own LOD using xLODGEN. A great tutorial written by payl0ad is here.
The tree LOD texture files needed to create your own LOD are included in with the main file.
I originally created this for my own use, as when I have used Boston FPS fix after Desperados in Fallout 4 VR, I was met with a number of trees coming back, which looked odd when the rest of the environment is desert. Loading Barren Trees in allows the trees that come back due to Boston FPS fix to fit better with the Desperados themed wasteland.
Load Order
Barren Trees should be able to be loaded anywhere or after any mod that edits tree textures; texture overhauls like Vivid Fallout likely conflict and would need to be loaded before Barren Trees.
Barren Trees LOD should be able to be loaded anywhere as you should only have one mod at a time for LOD

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Popular choice with 410 endorsements and over 47k downloads
- Performance-friendly since it only swaps textures, not meshes
- Works on Xbox, so console players can get the look too
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2022 — may need testing with current game patches
- Purely cosmetic; no gameplay or performance changes beyond visuals
For Fallout 4 players who want a desolate, post-apocalyptic vibe without heavy mods. Great for screenshot enthusiasts and roleplayers. Skip if you want full tree overhauls with new meshes or gameplay effects.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're on PC, use a mod manager like Vortex to avoid manual file placement issues.
- On Xbox, download directly from the mod menu in-game; ensure you have enough space.
- Test in a forested area like the Glowing Sea to see the effect before committing.
