📋 About This Mod
Name: BA_PipBoyAdvancedUserInterface Author: Shiholude Contributors: moirai - features and code Category: Armor ============== Description: ============== Welcome to the Pip-Boy Advanced user Interface (PAUI) Mod! WHOOOOO!!!! This mod provides the player with a set of wearable goggles. But this isn\'t your run-of-the-mill night vision goggle set. It has Night Vision, Pip-Boy Light modification, IFF, Object Highlighting, and Trap Detection! ============== Latest Updates: ============== (2-3-2012) vB551 - Same as below, just a new version bump for the re-upload. Must have had some glitch last night? (2-2-2012) vB55 - NEW FEATURE (created and developed by moirai, recoded and implemented by Shiholude): \"Distance Shading\" -- Now the user can specify at what distance to increase or decrease the brightness of the shading that is applied to targets. -- Anything beyond the specified range will have the shader amplified in color intensity - appearing brighter on the HUD. -- Anything below the specified range will be shaded a dimmer color (so you can actually see the target and features). This is the same brightness as previous versions. -- Six options are available (Off (always use close shader), short (25 meters), medium (50m), long (100m), very long (200m), and On (always use distant shaders). -- Each IFF type (Ally, Enemy, Neutral, Dead) has it\'s own option, so you can customize each type to your liking. - NEW FEATURE (created by moirai): \"Aggro Pulsing\" -- This feature will \"pulsate\" targets that are either actively seeking the player (CAUTION), or engaged with the player (DANGER) in red. -- I have built it into the options, with a default state of ON. I\'d like to give special thanks to MOIRAI for his contributions here. He really help disect much of some leftover bloated code from some other mods I used, and helped trim it down to something much more useful. Additionally, he has added some really good features to this mod that I had never thought of. Well done sir, and thank you! - I modified the close shader colors a bit to be less \"dull\". They are still dull, just not THAT dull. Dull is as dull does. Have a dull day. There is no \"i\" in dull. - New menu options to reflect the above changes. See the IFF Config. - Added data logs for Distance Shaders. - Revamped all Object Highlighting scripting (thanks again to moirai for his testing, suggestions, and coding) to be much more efficent, all while not losing any features or functionality. - Fixed menu navigation issues in the Object Highlighting menus. - Changed many DATA files to read more clearly. - Reduced the size of all menu screens to properly fit on a standard game display (for those without DARNUI type mods). - Added all data logs information to the Main Page description area. (1-25-2012) vB44 - Fixed a script that was causing the grate t

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 152 endorsements and over 5,000 downloads.
- Combines two useful utilities (night vision and pip-boy light) into one wearable item.
- Lightweight and focused—no bloat, just the goggles.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2013, so it may have compatibility issues with newer mods or DLC.
- Only adds one item—if you're looking for a full UI overhaul, this isn't it.
- Potential conflicts with other mods that alter the Pip-Boy light or night vision systems.
For Fallout: New Vegas players who want a simple, immersive way to see in the dark without clunky power armor helmets. Also great for roleplayers who want a scavenger or wasteland explorer look. Skip if you're after a complete UI overhaul or major gameplay changes—this is a small utility mod.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's an older mod, check if you have any mods that alter the Pip-Boy light or night vision—those might conflict.
- If you're using a mod manager, install it manually to ensure the files go to the right place.
- Test the goggles in a dark area to see if the night vision works as expected, especially if you have other visual mods.
