📋 About This Mod
Advanced Recon Series 1. Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision. 2. Advanced Recon Stealth Armor. 3. Advanced Recon Trap Detection.
Update version 1. 2. 1 Removed the scripted installer. Please use UIO - User Interface Organizer to add the HUD elements required.
Description Very simple mod that displays the distance to your target when zooming in on a scope/binoculars. Very useful if you do a lot of sniping and forget how far in you zoomed.
Requires FOSE is required. UIO - User Interface Organizer is recommended to inject the HUD element. You can do this manually if you are an expert, but I do not recommend it.
Limitations Works up to 14000 game units (200m), although in practive unless you are running ultra everything you probably wont get that far. Even though you can see land in the distance, it is not always something that is really there, and so cannot be detected for distance.
Any time you see 'signal lost ...' you are either looking out into space, or at an area the game has not actually built yet.
Adds a range finder showing distance to target on all scopes and binoculars in Fallout 3. A classic utility mod from Gopher with 2,616 endorsements, last updated in 2014. For players who want tactical awareness without breaking immersion.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 2,616 endorsements and 46k downloads — clearly a trusted utility.
- Simple, focused feature: distance readout on every scope and binoculars, no bloat.
- Gopher's mods are known for quality and polish, so you know it's solid.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2014 — may have compatibility issues with newer mods or game versions.
- Requires Fallout 3 — no mention of compatibility with Tale of Two Wastelands or other overhauls.
For Fallout 3 players who want to know exact distances when sniping or scouting. If you're a stealth or marksman build, this is a must-have. Skip if you prefer a more hardcore, no-HUD experience.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a simple mod, just drop the files into your Data folder and activate in the launcher.
- If you use a mod manager like FOMM, install it through there to keep your load order clean.
- Test with a scoped weapon to see the range finder in action — it should appear on the scope view.
