📋 About This Mod
A script setup that allows you to run the Dying Light Devtools FSB compiler and CSB builder without having to start up your devtools.Handy to quickly make and update custom audio archives compatible with Audiomod Core.
These scripts can be used to quickly convert OGG files to FSB (Audio format), then pack them together in a CSB (Audio archive) for use with Audiomod Core. (My custom CSB loader mod)
This is especially useful / necessary to make custom soundpacks for the Randomizer Edition, but is helpful for any kind of audio mod.
MP3 and WAV files are also semi-supported, but may not load properly.
How to use:
-
[]Fetch your desired sounds in . OGG format[/]
[]Place your OGG audio files in the Converter folder.[/]
[]Run Convert FSBs.bat. FSB files will be created in the FSBs folder. Choose whether to delete the source files (Y) or keep them (N).[/]
[]Move your desired FSBs into the CSB_Input folder[/]
[]Run Create CSBs.bat. It will output custom_1.csb in the root folder.[/]
[]Install the custom csb in \Dying Light\DW\Data\ using Audiomod Core. (call it custom_1, _2, _3, etc)[/]
First-time install:
Due to Nexus Mods' safety rules I cannot provide the Devtools .exe and .dll files in the mod itself.
You will have to download the Dying Light 1 Developer Tools on Steam to acquire them.
-
[]Install the Dying Light 1 Developer Tools if you haven't yet. Find them in your Steam Library's "Tools" category. (Check the dropdown)[/]
[]Navigate to the devtools' FSB folder, default location C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dying Light Developer Tools\FSB[/]
[]Copy the 6 files from this folder to the "\DL1 Audio Compiler\resources\" folder. This should be FSBCompiler.exe, FSBLinker.exe, fmodex.dll, fsbanklibex.dll, libogg.dll, and libvorbis.dll.[/]
[]The scripts are now ready for use, and you can uninstall the Dying Light Developer Tools again, if you want.[/]
Extra notes:
-
[]To correctly override a game sound, a CSB needs to contain an FSB that has exactly the same name as the original sound.
Find a list of all sound names in the Optional Files section.[/
][]Custom CSBs load separately after the main game files. That means updates and Steam file verification won't uninstall them! Hurray for modularity.[/]
[]Custom CSBs can be any size, but work most reliably when they stay small, especially for the main menu theme "dw_menu.fsb".[/]
[*]To replace an existing game sound, you must match the original FSB file name from an original CSB. For example, to replace the song on the radio in the University saf
