📋 About This Mod
The BufUI Mod introduces a new panel to the in-game GUI, designed to display the active buffs of your selected character. This panel showcases up to 12 active buffs, revealing their counts and corresponding expiration times.
BufUI adds a dedicated panel to the in-game GUI that shows your selected character's active buffs in a clean, out-of-the-way layout. It originally started as a simple tweak to improve on the default dockbar visibility, but it has since grown into a much more flexible buff-tracking tool.
With the 3. 00 update, the mod now supports up to 24 visible buff icons using a dynamic layout. It shows the first 12 buffs by default, and automatically rolls out a second row of 12 if you have more active buffs. Once those extra buffs wear off, the extra row tucks itself back away to keep your screen clear. Buffs are also automatically sorted by duration, meaning whatever is about to expire first stays at the front of the list.
You can choose between two panel styles: the standard icon view or a text-based layout that mimics the vanilla dockbar descriptions. You can swap between them using the extra GUI button right next to your health and mana potions. Both views feature countdown timers (h:mm:ss for text, mm:ss for icons) that turn red when a buff has less than 10 seconds remaining. Anything lasting over 100 minutes just displays as "99:++" in the icon view.
How to install:
1. Drop BufUI_v3. 00.dsres into your Dungeon Siege "Resources" folder. If you are playing Legends of Aranna, use BufUI_LoA_v3. 00.dsres instead. Do not put both files in your folder at the same time.
2. Fire up the game and click the new white spellbook button next to your potions to show or hide the panel. Right-clicking this same button will swap between the icon and text views.
You can also set up a hotkey toggle for the panel. Go to Options > Input > Hotkeys, and look for "Game Timer (and BufUI)" under the User Interface section. The default key is ";" (semicolon). If you set "SHIFT+;" as your secondary hotkey, pressing that combination will toggle both the game timer and the BufUI panel together, while pressing just ";" will toggle only the timer. If you use a different main key (like "Y"), just bind the secondary to "SHIFT+Y".
Compatibility:
The mod has been tested and works in both single-player and multiplayer for vanilla Dungeon Siege (v1. 11) and Legends of Aranna (v1. 50). Just make sure you picked the right file version for the game executable you're running.
From version 2. 00 onward, BufUI doesn't touch hero templates anymore, which means it plays nice with a ton of mods that used to cause conflicts. It will, however, still conflict with anything that modifies data_bar.gas or spell-related skrit files like spell_status_effect.skrit (check FILES.txt in the download if you want the specific list). It also works completely fine when loading up older save files that didn't have the mod installed previously.
Bonus Fix:
BufUI fixes a vanilla bug in spell_mass_enchant.skrit where stackable spells of a similar type would glitch out if you cast them in a specific order.
