📋 About This Mod
Fixes the elements of the native HDR that cause unintended artistic deviation from the SDR look.
What's wrong with the HDR?
-
[]Brightness is scaled prior to tone mapping, which causes unintentional shifts in tone mapping behavior compared to the SDR grade. In the mod, the brightness has been normalized to SDR exposure levels with brightness scaling applied afterwards, preserving intent.
[
]The tone map is baked into a fixed ~1000 nit ACES LUT. This limits peak brightness to this ceiling regardless of brightness scaling and peak brightness selected in the menu. In the mod, this has been upgraded to use the full luminance range.[]Additional display mapping is applied after tone mapping, and it's configured in such a way that it compresses highlights more than necessary because of the 1000 nit ceiling. In the mod, vanilla display mapping has been replaced with our custom display mapper which provides higher quality results.
[]The game was developed in SDR on 2. 2 displays, like normal, but the game is encoded with sRGB gamma. This mismatch in encoding causes a black raise to be baked into the art that isn't apparent in SDR, but is in the HDR if unaccounted for. With the mod, this mismatch has been addressed and the black levels now align with SDR.
On top of fixing these things, the mod also offers an option to replace the vanilla system with the RenoDX ACES code, which some may prefer. There's also an option to replace/disable the grain/noise and use RenoDX Film Grain. A vignette slider is also included in the mod.
It should be noted that while this mod requires ReShade, it is NOT A RESHADE PRESET. This is a modification of the game's native code, leveraging the ReShade addon system.

Installation
-
[]Install REFramework by downloading and dropping the dinput8.dll into the game directory.
[
]Install ReShade with Full Addon Support. No shaders necessary, no addons needed from the installer, and the game is DX12.[]Download the addon file from this page and extract to the game directory.
[](Optional): Disable generic depth and runtime sync from the addons menu in reshade, to maximize performance.
- (Optional but not really): When installing the mod for the first time, delete the shader.cache2 file from the game's directory. If you don't do this, you will encounter massive amounts shader compilation stutter. This may be needed for some updates to this mod as well.
-
[]Install REFramework by downloading and dropping the dinput8.dll into the game directory.
