📋 About This Mod
This mod offers a straightforward solution to improve the shadow filtering in dragons dogma 2, addressing visible dithering in the shadows. I am not sure if this is a widespread issue, but anyway this mod does not totally alleviate the dithering, but makes it somewhat better by adjusting ingame shadowfiltering values (See comparison in screenshots) - the effect is most visible when using upscaling such as dlss as the dithering is based on the resolution the game is running before the upscaling.
The mod includes UI via REFramework so that users can easily switch between the original shadow filtering and enhanced options as well as test other settings that can be saved inside the .lua file.
Key Features:
-
[]Adjustable ShadowFilter (dithering mode): Choose between the default shadow filtering and the alternate "enhanced" shadowfiltering, designed to alleviate the common issues with shadow appearance in the game.
[
]Adjustable Shadow Variance Scale (Shadow Smoothness or blur): Fine-tune the shadow smoothness to your preference, with a variance scale ranging from 0 to 2 (Default is 1). This feature allows for greater control over the smoothness and allows to adjust it to better replicate original smoothness with the better shadowfiltering.[]To edit the default values that are set at startup, you must edit the .lua file.
-
[]Install REFramework (required)
[]Download this mod.
[]Extract the contents of the .zip file.
[]Drag the "reframework" folder inside the zip file into your steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2 folder, which should already have an "reframework" folder if you installed it.
[]Start the game
Notes:
- This seems to only affect the directional light at the moment, so spotlights and arealights might still have the bad dithering.
- This has not been tested to work 100% all the time - so take this as a beta release for now. I have been using this with upscaling at 1440p and dlss balanced.
- This is my first script mod - there might be issues, let me know and I will check it out when I got the time
