📋 About This Mod
Game Breaking Bug: If you don't have the shield equipped on your person when you start up the game and try to equip it, the game will crash once you hit the "equipment" button from the pause screen. I'm looking for a fix, but first I'll make a stable mod for anyone who doesn't want to put up with this bs. All files have been updated to a bug free version.
I'll update the files page with more shields as time goes on. Please leave feedback on which shields you'd like to see replaced, and with what shield.
Big shields are badass I know, but they also hide my character 95% of the time and that really irked me. So I thought of replacing the big shields with smaller ones to remedy the problem. If ever I learn how to change the grip point/orientation there will probably be a mod that puts them on your forearm (unless someone beats me to the punch).
Installation: just replace the .arc file (path given under the file in the 'files' tab) with the one you download.
A compact cosmetic mod for Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen that replaces the Mystic Knight's large shields with smaller variants, keeping your character visible during combat. With 61 endorsements and last updated in 2016, it's a niche choice for players who prefer a less obstructive look.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Does exactly what it says: smaller shields that don't hide your character
- Lightweight and focused—no bloat, just the visual tweak you want
- Still downloadable after all these years (1,543 downloads)
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2016—may not be compatible with the latest game patches
- Only 61 endorsements, so it's a niche mod with a small following
- No screenshots or detailed install notes provided by the author
For Dragon's Dogma players who love the Mystic Knight class but hate how the default shields block your view of your character. If you're into fashion or just want to see your armor while fighting, this is a quick fix. Skip if you want gameplay changes—this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure to back up your original game files before replacing anything, just in case.
- If you're using a mod manager, check if it supports this mod's file structure; otherwise, manual installation is straightforward.
- Test the mod in a low-stakes area first to ensure it doesn't conflict with other visual mods you have.
