📋 About This Mod
This modification gives access to some highly detailed unused spaces in the Profane City.
This is the third modification in my 'Open' series, enabling access to cut/unused/out of bounds areas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
It turns out that a vast amount of the Profane City goes unused in the game, cut at some point during development and cleverly hidden away behind props. This mod grants access to these unused spaces.
Featured is some rather unique and creative scenery, a great deal of verticality and lots (and I mean lots) of hallways, doors and visually impactful vistas. There are also two statue puzzles involving braziers and several healing potion jars and ultimate skill potion jars scattered about.
Something to note is that while these spaces are for the most part polished, not all have the same level of polish. In some cases, assets are missing, objects are floating, collision is inaccurate, textures flicker, etcetera. I have not experienced any crashes related to these. Cases such as these are extremely minimal and do not detract from the exploration experience.
The larger of the areas can be accessed via a previously barred doorway in the far-right corner of the Gloom Howler boss arena. Please note that leaving via this doorway will reset the Gloom Howler encounter, meaning in order to return to the fight, one has to traverse the whole of the unused area - which in fact leads to a gate with an interactable lever close to the beginning of the Profane City. From here, traverse as you would normally through the city to reach the Gloom Howler arena and begin the fight anew.
Also note that if you choose specifically to save and reload the game at any point during or after exploration beyond the now un-barred doorway in the Gloom Howler boss arena, the ladder just beyond the dungeon earlier in the level that requires Assan to interact with de-spawns.
Normally this would make it impossible to return to the Gloom Howler and re-start the fight, however, I have created a small opening in the Profane City War Room (where you find the Warden Commander) that allows one to reach higher ground and jump to a space next to the cliff where the ladder normally would be. Due to the nature of level editing, this new path is always open and can be used to access later parts of the level - including the boss arena - early. If this is done, no enemies will spawn until all previous quest checkpoints on the map have been reached.
The smaller, but no less interesting unused space can be accessed via another newly opened doorway just up some stairs beyond the above-mentioned ladder. This path leads to the balconies that are visible high-up, either side of the boss arena. Once again, no enemies (including the Gloom Howler) will spawn if this path is used to access the arena early.
Something fun to note is that one can start the Gloom Howler fight as normal, run back out before she finishes her first spe
