Dragon Age II Japanese Translation

発売から14年。存在せず、見捨てられたままだったPC版の日本語化がようやく実現。

Fourteen years after its release. After being non-existent and abandoned, the PC version has finally been translated into Japanese.

Xbox360/PS3の公式訳に準拠しつつ、AI翻訳による助けを得てDLCシナリオ The Exiled Prince 、Legacy、Mark of the Assassinにも対応。

While adhering to the official Xbox360/PS3 translation, the DLC scenarios The Exiled Prince , Legacy and Mark of the Assassin are also supported with the help of AI translation.

導入は至って簡単。ドキュメント（Documents）フォルダーにあるBioware/Dragon Age 2/packages/core/overrideに投げ込めば、そちらからの読み込みが優先される仕組みになっている。

Installation is quite easy. Just throw in the file Bioware/Dragon Age 2/packages/core/override in the Documents folder, and the file will be loaded from that folder first.

この作業では、オリジナルの.tlkをxoreosツールを使って.xmlに抽出した。.xmlから.txtへの日本語訳転写は、自作のpythonスクリプトを使って書き起こした。日本語フォントの.ttfはjpexs decompilerで適用した。Hikami氏のda2tlkconv.exeを使って.txtを.tlkに再コンパイル。ワークフローが確立され、実装に漕ぎつけた。

In this work, the original .tlk was extracted into .xml using the xoreos tool. The Japanese translation from .xml to .txt was transcribed using a python script of my own making. Japanese font .ttf applied by jpexs decompiler. Recompiled .txt to .tlk using Hikami's da2tlkconv.exe. The workflow was established and implemented.

コーデックス取得時のポップアップウィンドウについては、仕様の壁を越えられなかった。popuplayer.gfxの該当DefineEditTextがgfxfontlib.swfをインポートしている。これが2バイト文字をサポートしていないのだと思われる。gfxfontlib.swfのDefineFont3に漢字グリフを埋め込んでも□豆腐文字になってしまう。ジャーナルからは問題なく読み取れるため、プレイに支障はない。

Regarding the pop-up window that appears when obtaining the Codex, we were unable to overcome the specification barrier. The relevant DefineEditText in popuplayer.gfx imports gfxfontlib.swf. It is thought that this does not support two-byte characters; even if a Kanji glyph is embedded in DefineFont3 of gfxfontlib.swf, it becomes a 'tofu' character (a square). However, it reads fine from the journal and does not interfere with play.
