Rune of Banter

Both Origins' and Awakening's companions have an enormous amount of banter with each other, but it can only be triggered at select spots, and these spots can only be triggered once before you have to leave the area and come back for them to work again. These factors all combine to ensure players miss the majority of banter between characters, especially for party members who join late in the game.

This mod adds an item, Rune of Banter, that can be put on your quickbar and will instantly trigger banter between your current companions when you use it, and it can be used anywhere! The rune has infinite uses and a cooldown of 10 seconds (to make sure you don't accidentally interrupt banters). The rune works with both Origins and Awakening.

The rune will appear in Bodahn's shop (it's free), and he'll always restock it so that he always has one in case you accidentally destroy yours. He'll only ever have a maximum of one rune for sale at a time, though, so don't worry about his inventory swelling up. It's at the bottom of Bodahn's inventory. The rune will also appear in Yuriah's shop in Awakening (free and always restocked, just like Bodahn).

How do I use this mod?

• []Download the mod, then unzip the folder "Rune of Banter" to your override folder, located at Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override

  []Load your game, then go to camp and buy the rune from Bodahn.

• Put the Rune of Banter into your quickbar and enjoy all the banter you desire!

  OR, IF YOU CAN USE THE CONSOLE:

  Open the console (the DA Wiki has a guide if you don't know how), and type "runscript zz_give_rob" (without quotes) to give yourself the rune. You only have to do this once, don't worry. If you can't use the console, don't worry; you can just buy it from Bodahn like normal. This is just for people who want it more quickly.

  Anything else I should know?

  Two things: Firstly, don't use the Rune of Banter while a banter is in progress. If you do, your party members will stop talking and immediately start a different banter, stopping you from hearing the full thing.

  Secondly, on some occasions the Rune of Banter may appear to not do anything. This has to do with how the game plays banter: Behind the scenes, every time a banter is triggered, the game makes a big list of the banters your current party could have, and then picks one randomly. As you hear more and more banters, chances get higher that the game will pick one you've already heard.
