More Dogs in Fereldan Paintings

The Fereldans are a puzzle. As a people, they are one bad day away from reverting to barbarism. They repelled invasions from Tevinter during the height of the Imperium with nothing but dogs and their own obstinate disposition . . . if you insult their dogs, they are likely to declare war.

All that, and yet none of the paintings reflect the absolute adoration Fereldans have for their dogs?!

This mod replaces vanilla paintings with free-to-use, public domain artwork involving dogs. All rise for Andraste's mabari!

INSTALLATION

Drop files into your override folder, usually Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override.

UNINSTALLATION

Delete the More Dogs in Fereldan Paintings folder.

I got all the artwork from Artvee, Cleveland Art Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art websites. I have included an Excel sheet in the zip which has the full list of artists and links to the paintings.

EXTRA NOTES

In the included Excel sheet, I have listed the filenames of the dds files, a short description, an unfinished list of where the paintings can be found, and links to the artists and paintings. It's a bit messy, but it's functional.

DA:O paintings are weird in that there are some paintings which are a composite of two pictures (for example, the top half is a painting of a

warrior, and the bottom half is a mountain range). That's why in the sheet you'll see a "first half" and "second half".

There are only 20~ vanilla paintings/portraits in DA:O, and almost all of them are landscapes (and a great many of them are of Kinloch Hold). Since there are so few, the paintings repeat a lot, to the point that there are paintings of Kinloch Hold in Orzammar Royal Palace. Because of that, there will be photos of dogs/people with dogs in Orzammar. Sorry about that! Pretend that those were gifts from ambassadors or something.

I'm no expert in art or modding or texture or anything like that, but I did want more dogs, so I added them. If you have any advice on how to mod textures etc, or if you want to correct something I did wrong etc etc, please feel free to do so!
