Dragon Age Origins Unofficial Remaster

16-JUN-2024: This mod has been repackaged with a lot of features removed, because I got tired of people complaining about not knowing how to delete files they don't want. So now the core mod is just texture and prop model changes. The comments and bug tracker tabs have been disabled because I will not be providing further support.

This mod took a long time to do. The purpose of this mod is to quite simply make Dragon Age Origins look a little less dated, while still maintaining its memorable style and feeling. Primarily, this means upgrading most of the game’s textures, which I’ve done using a combination of upscaling, redrawing by hand, and replacements from later games. The screenshots included are but a minuscule set of examples of the 1,000+ improvements. It was made with the Ultimate Edition in mind, and will work with all DLCs and Awakening Expansion.

HOW TO INSTALL:

• []Extract the Unofficial Remaster folder from the downloaded ZIP.

  []Place it in your Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override folder. (If you do not yet have an override folder, create one.)

  []OPTIONAL: Use a chargen compiler if you already have a chargenmorphcfg in your override. Multiple chargenmorphcfg files will not work together!

  HOW TO UNINSTALL:

  • []Delete the Unoffical Remaster folder from your Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override folder.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • []This mod requires Large Address Aware to function! Make sure you have downloaded LAA and use it on the Dragon Age Origins EXE before adding this mod to your override. If you have DA:O via Steam, here are special instructions.

      COMPATIBILITY:

      • []As of the 16-Jun-2024 revision, this mod should now work with the popular "Improved Atmosphere". (Though I don't use it myself, so please do not message me with questions about it.)

        []It is also fully compatible with the recommended mods listed below.

        []It is not compatible with other mods that change textures, like "Theta HD" for example. They do the exact same thing, so you have to pick which one you personally prefer, or mix and match if you want to individually select the textures you like, and know what you're doing.

        OPTIONAL DOWNLOADS:

        []Elves of Ferelden (requires original mod and fix) - Download the texture pack and replace the original textures in your override.

        []Neutral Female Armor (requires original mod) - Download the texture pack and replace the original textures in your override.
