DAToolset voice over companion

With the emergence of sites offering artificial voices for voice-over creation, it's now possible to create mods with decent voice overs.

However, renaming the wav files to match StringID's can be time-consuming (like 4 hours to rename 125 lines of text).

To address this, I created a console app that simplifies the process.

- You start by choosing the desired option from the menu.

- The app is mainly used to find conversations and export them to a CSV file.

- This file can be used to generate text in sites like play.ht and then download it as separate wav files numbered by paragraph (in one zip file).

- The app then matches the downloaded files with the CSV file to rename them to <StringID>_m.wav from the CSV file.

- The matching is done by row order.

The same principle can be applied to any wav files ending with the pattern "_NNN.wav". Note that the extension ".wav" may not be displayed depending on Windows settings.

Note that this is app built for my needs, There could be some bugs, but the part I was using it it was working fine (Gamblers of Ferelden were created with help of this app).

I have published on my blog "how I was using it" for creating voice-overs for my latest mod. It really cut the time needed for messing with voice over files from hours to minutes, specifically if you have everything prepared and your conversations are finished considering conversation texts.

How to install and start?

- To use the app, you need to have . NET 6 desktop runtime installed. You can find it here if it is still not installed on your system (try to run the app).

- Download the zip file.

- Extract it to some location i.e.: C:\VoiceOvers - like extract to folder "DAToolsetConvoCompanion_v2_5" with 7zip - then you will get application path as C:\VoiceOvers\DAToolsetConvoCompanion_v2_5\

- You can then go in that folder and right click to DAToolsetConvoCompanion.exe and choose "send to desktop (create shortcut)" to ease you starting the app.

- Create working directory/folder i.e.: C:\VoiceOvers\DAOQuestGiver - by setting 'working' directory it will simplify your working with giving file names and everything from specific conversation will be on one place.

- Start the app in i.e.: 'C:\VoiceOvers\DAToolsetConvoCompanion_v2_5\DAToolsetConvoCompanion.exe' and set working directory to C:\VoiceOvers\DAOQuestGiver (easiest way is to create working folder in Windows Explorer and then click in address bar and copy the path, then paste copied path in the application).

- You can also right click to DAToolsetConvoCompanion.exe and send to desktop - create shortcut.

- After that, all what you need to do for next voice-over is to set other working directory and work it from there.
