📋 About This Mod
The mod makes it possible to hear out as many follower comments in the DLC as possible. In the vanilla expansion, some companions would block the other comments with their banter. Additionally, the ambient dialogues had no animations - now
Despite being combat-heavy, Return to Ostagar still provides a fair amount of storytelling and believable emotions in form of our companions' reflections, thoughts and memories. It can be appreciated more when we consider Bioware had to rework the DLC once - Restored Content - Telm of Harmon is something that could be restored from the original version.
As the companions speak their mind, their comments may turn out to be very important for the player as well. They can even change our opinion about a particular character. This is why I made sure to enable almost every party comment, whereever it was reasonably possible.
For example, if we took other characters than Alistair, Wynne and Dog, only one companion used to comment at certain moments. I tweaked it, so that no matter what party we take, everyone is going to say their lines. Except for Shale, she doesn't have any content for this expansion. Still, a recommended party for the journey:
Also, as you may remember, our followers don't have any animations while taking part in banter(ambient) comments or conversations. This is something I changed in Blick's Party Barks for the main campaign, and in The Crater and Warden's Keep for another DLC. Now it's implemented for RtO as well. As in the mentioned two mods, each animation was handpicked. Emotions, context, a follower's personality - all of it was carefully considered in order to enhance the lines' delivery and impact.
What's more:
- fixed one incorrect plot flag related to one Morrigan's comment. The flag checked if another follower was in the party, which means that as far as I know, nobody has ever heard Morrigan's comment regarding
- restored Alistair and Wynne's comments about the aforementioned Maric's Blade. If Alistair and Wynne are in the party, they emotionally comment on the documents...yet they don't comment on the blade, despite having specific comments for it.
Though Alistair's line either wasn't fully recorded or there's something wrong with its sound file. But the subtitle is there and half the line that is voiced sounds good enough. So, having finished to talk about the documents, they're going to comment on the blade from now on
Update: further testing showed that Alistair's line works well in at least one non-EN localisation - it confirmed my suspicion the English line had apparently only been recorded in half.
- something extra, originally I planned to add it to Fereldan Roads, but I decided to merge it with the other RtO edits. The other area exit (near the Tower of Ishal) was moved farther, so that we can walk the bridge that leads to Ostagar. Some tiles seem to be glitched (a vanilla iss
