📋 About This Mod

Modifies the daze settings for Superheavy demons so that they reach execution state far more consistently instead of just dying outright.

For the majority of TDA's enemy AI, what determines whether they go into execution state is fairly simple--deal a certain amount of damage in a given time frame, and the enemy will daze. This differs markedly from Eternal's system (at least in my understanding), where no matter how slowly you dealt damage to an enemy, once they hit a certain HP value (usually 500 health, for heavy and superheavy demons) they would go into GK state no matter what.

An example in TDA is the Archvile, which has 65K health and requires the player to deal 40K damage in a relatively short time in order to put it into execution state. The problem with this is the fact that in many occasions, especially in DLC arenas with how much movement is prioritized, you are simply unable to deal enough damage to a superheavy demon in a short enough time frame to trigger daze, and so as a result, on many occasions an AI will simply flop over dead after its HP pool is reduced to zero instead of giving the player the opportunity to execute it, robbing them of more potential health and a spear empowerment charge.

What this mod does is fairly simple: one, it puts a hard threshold at 5% of every superheavy demon's health bar at which point they will forcibly go into execution state, and two, it gives them damage resistance while in that state so that it's much easier for the player to let off the trigger and go for the execution without inadvertently killing the target. I varied the damage resistance values for each AI so that, in conjunction with the low health threshold, you have to deal around 11K damage to each AI to kill them outright while in their low health execution state. This is enough to make it much easier to consistently execute superheavies, but also not so much that you can't just kill them outright with your guns (a point blank SSG shot deals 16. 5K damage, for reference).

The one catch with this method is that the damage resistance also applies while the AI is in its natural daze state (e.g. when X amount of damage is dealt quickly), so if a superheavy demon reaches daze via normal means, killing them without an execution isn't usually possible. Additionally, when certain heavy demons such as Cyberdemons, Komodos, and Agaddon Champions reach their glory strike state, this also counts as the AI being "dazed" so you will no longer be able to deal large amounts of damage during this period. If that sounds like an issue, then this mod probably wouldn't be ideal for you, but I hope that for everyone else this can serve as a welcome QoL change.

Requires the Atlan Mod Loader by FlavorfulGecko5.

Thanks to FlavorfulGecko5 for explaining some inheritance-related stuff to me and making me realize my initial idea for this mod (forced executions for all superheavies) was a pretty flawed idea.
