Plasma Rifle Enhanced

The base plasma rifle in Doom Eternal is disappointing as it lacks impact. There is little reason to use it over the hit-scan quick-swappable ballista. This mod is inspired and builds off another mod : Old School Plasma Rifle. While I feel that mod is a great effort I felt it needed to be rebalanced.

  []Projectiles now larger.

  []Projectile speed reduced.

  []Damage increased for direct hits, does not apply to Shield Solders and Doom Hunters.

  Two versions available :

  • []Original : Damage increased to 72 / 80 (from 35 / 42) for base and power surge respectively.

    []Balanced (recommended) : Damage increased to 47 / 56 (from 35 / 42) for base and power surge respectively. Also removes the 23% damage reduction to fodder (except shield soldiers), that is in base game.

    The first three changes are the same from "Old School Plasma Rifle", and I feel were spot on. That mod makes the damage to 90 base or 108 during power surge while doubling the ammo cost. I reduced the damage somewhat and left it as one cell per shot. I also left out the changes made to the heat blast mod, as they were no longer necessary.

    The plasma rifle now feels like the old Doom one. Its primary advantage over the ballista is efficiency (it does more damage per cell). This weapon is now great for crowd control, when you have a lot of stuff in your face that you need to clear without self damage from rocket launcher. I feel that these advantages really make it worth choosing over the hit-scan ballista from time to time. The balanced version is just that, it improves the weapon without making it over powered. The original version is very powerful, and I realized it was too much hence why I made the other option available.

    Installation :

    • []Download the latest version of DoomModInjector, and place it in your DOOMEternal install directory (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOMEternal\).  Join the Doom 2016+ Modding Discord server to stay up-to-date on each new release (each game update will require a updated injector, and potentially updated mods) and for troubleshooting assistance.

      []Download thismod.zip and place it within your Mods folder within your install directory (included with DoomModInjector)

      []Run EternalModInjector.bat, the game will launch automatically

      []From now on you can launch the game normally as long as the game doesn't update!
