Army of the Living

Army of the Living lets you create a large group of companions and pets in Diablo II: Resurrected.

You can configure:

- Eight independent mercenary slots.

- Twelve custom companion types.

- Three independent pet slots with 24 pet choices.

- Normal, Nightmare or Hell strength for the whole army.

- Custom companion names.

- Four editable skills for every companion type.

- The priority with which companions choose their skills.

- Custom or native icons and party portraits.

- Free summoning if No Mana Cost is enabled.

All companion and pet summon skills are granted by one item called the Mercenary Contract.

Mercenary Slots 1–8

Every slot offers Off and all twelve  companions. Choose any mixture, including duplicates.

Pet Slots 1-3

Each slot offers None and all 24 pets.  Duplicate pet choices are treated as one pet.

Editing companion skills

Open Edit Mercenary Skills, then open the submenu for the companion you want to change.

Changes apply to every enabled slot using that companion type. If Fire Wizard is selected in three slots, all three Fire Wizards use the same edited loadout.

Edit Companion Name (12 Characters)

This will replace the default Mercenary Name

Select Revert To Default to remove your Chosen Name

Each companion has four positions:

1. Skill 1 — Highest Priority

2. Skill 2 — High Priority

3. Skill 3 — Medium Priority

4. Skill 4 — Low Priority

Earlier positions are favoured more often when their skills are suitable. Priority does not force a skill to work in the wrong situation.

- Default keeps the companion's original skill in that position.

- None leaves that position empty. Lower positions keep their original priorities.

- Revert to Default restores the original name and all original skills.

General Settings

Companion and Pet Strength

This single setting controls the strength of Companions and Pets:

| Setting | Companion combat skill level | Effective pet level |

| --- | ---: | ---: |

| Normal | 5 | 10 |

| Nightmare | 15 | 25 |

| Hell | 25 | 40 |

This is a fixed D2RMM setting. It does not change automatically when you enter another game difficulty.

Pets keep their native scaling formulas. A higher effective level can improve life, damage, defence, attack rating, aura strength or another native ability. Pets do not use the elemental masteries given to the custom wizards.

No Mana Cost

- Enabled: summoning costs no mana.

- Disabled: each summon costs 10 mana.

Pet & Mercenary Artwork

Custom: uses the matching icons and party portraits included with Army of the Living.

- Native:* uses available game artwork instead.

Mercenary Contract

Creating the Mercenary Contract

Put these loose scrolls into the Horadric Cube:

- Two Scrolls of Identify.

- One Scroll of Town Portal.

Transmute them to create the Mercenary Contract.

Keep the contract in your character's inventory. It grants the summon skills selected in D2RMM. Assign those skills to your
