DaggerEd - Daggerfall Level Editor

Description

A standalone, modified version of the Thief, Thief 2 and System Shock 2 level editor Newdark Dromed for use in the creation of Daggerfall Unity scenes, mainly targeting interior spaces -- but it can be used as well for exteriors with some preparation.

It is expected that you use vfig's "thiefblendercrap" importer script to get the resulting mission files into Blender, where they can then be prepared for use in Daggerfall Unity. That can be found here.

Most standard Dromed tutorials will suffice for use with this tool. The major changes were done in the menus to facilitate Daggerfall editing a little more easily.

Some quick notes:

- Press Ctrl+P to portalize. This will compile the brushes in the mission into an actual 3D representation that can be used.

- Occasionally you should click the console and type "optimize". This will in most cases reduce the amount of portals needed to represent the scene, which means lower polygon count.

- Press Alt+8 to toggle view_cell. For DFU purposes, this is effectively viewing the raw scene polygons.

- Press Alt+G to enter "game mode", which will preview the scene.

- Game mode's player scale is not accurate to Daggerfall. In most cases, crouching (press C) will give you a closer representation to the scale you'll see in DFU.

- When in game mode, press Alt+E to return to DaggerEd.

- Once in a while, it may be a good idea to use the Textures > Compress Texture IDs option. You should probably do this at least once before importing into Blender.

Installation instructions

- Download the zip.

- Extract to its own folder.

- Run DaggerEd.exe.
