📋 About This Mod
Swap the skins of non-iconic weapons directly from the inventory or from CET, while preserving stats, tier and mods.
Description
Weapon Skin Swapper lets you change the visual skin of supported vanilla weapons to another vanilla variant of the same weapon model.
The mod is designed to stay conservative and safe:
- It only works on non-iconic weapons.
- It keeps the weapon's stats and tier.
- It preserves weapon mods.
- Weapons should retain their changed appearance if this mod is uninstalled.
It also supports crafted non-iconic weapons. When a crafted weapon is swapped, the mod preserves its stats and converts it into the matching vanilla preset family. A warning is shown in both the native inventory UI and the CET window before you do this.
Special handling is included for the 'SPT32 Grad' and 'Nekomata' sniper rifles, so their built-in replaceable scopes can be preserved during a skin swap instead of blocking the action.
Requirements
- Cyber Engine Tweaks
- redscript
- RedFileSystem
Installation instructions
1. Install all required base mods.
2. Copy the 'bin' and 'r6' folders into your Cyberpunk 2077 game root.
How To Use
1. Open the inventory.
2. Equip and select a supported non-iconic weapon.
3. Look for the 'Weapon Skin' button in the top-right corner of the screen.
4. Click 'Weapon Skin' to open the variant popup.
5. Select the skin you want to apply.
6. If you click the currently active preset, the mod will reroll hidden vanilla visual subvariants when that weapon family supports them.
- If the 'Weapon Skin' button is disabled, it may be because you are not selecting the weapon itself, but one of its attachments or mods instead, because the weapon has no available variants, or because it is an iconic weapon.
- If the weapon has attachments installed, a popup will tell you to remove them first.
- If the weapon is crafted, the popup will show a warning explaining that the swap preserves its stats but converts it into a vanilla preset weapon.
Requirements
- Cyber Engine Tweaks
- redscript
- RedFileSystem
Limitations
- Only non-iconic weapons are allowed.
- Attachments must be removed before changing the skin.
- Hidden vanilla subvariants with the same preset family name, such as multiple `Neon` looks, cannot be selected directly and currently require rerolling.
- Crafted weapons keep their stats, but after the swap they are no longer identified as crafted weapons because they become vanilla preset weapons.
- Some non-iconic weapons are disabled for skin swapping because they use a
