Usable Umbrellas - Stay dry out there

Have you ever felt envious of all the NPCs who get to stay dry when it's raining in Night City? While you're damp and feeling miserable? You're supposed to be the Protagonist! But right now, you're feeling like a third class citizen!

Worry no longer! With our new fully usable Militech Tactical Umbrellas, you too can enjoy not getting soaked to the bone whenever the rain is pouring down. And in a pinch, it'll help you defend yourself if a gonk tries to jump you.

Variations

Umbrellas are available in two shapes, each with 20 different appearances:

• [] Round: A conventional umbrella

  [] Square: The strange triangular (why do they call it square?) umbrellas that seem like they'd never actually keep you dry

  The umbrella model and appearances come from the base game, as used by NPCs, but the square umbrella has been modified to move the canopy further up so that it doesn't clip into the player's head.

  Availability

  There are three ways to get an Umbrella

  • [] Buy one from a Junk Vendor: all the city's junk vendors have umbrellas in stock, in all quality levels. When you buy an umbrella from a vendor, you can choose the shape, but the appearance will be randomised.

    [] Buy one from the virtual atelier: The Kiasuburger Umbrella Store offers a way to buy an umbrella when you want to choose the exact appearance

    [] Use a CET console code (see below)

    Poses

    If you're looking to use the umbrella for photography, you'll quickly notice that the only base game pose where it shows up is the one for melee weapons, and that's it. Fortunately, Grovac has put together a special pose pack designed to work with this mod, so check it out!

        How does this even work?

        The only type of item that the game has a concept of holding in your hands is a weapon, so guess what - the umbrella is a weapon. I used the Tire-Iron as the base weapon type, as it's got the right basic shape, so the animations mostly make sense. I thought about turning down the weapon stats to reflect how ineffective a real umbrella is as a weapon, but ultimately decided to leave them as-is, because whacking enemies with an umbrella is hilarious. And then it turns out that the Cyberpunk universe is way ahead of me, and the Militech Tactical Umbrella is a real thing.

        The one behaviour modification I did make was to stop the game from triggering the idle and auto-holster animations that normally apply to weapons when n
