"When Biotechnica pulled out of the East Coast during the Collapse, they left more than burned-out labs and sealed bunkers behind. In 2077, a scav team working the Pacifica undercity cracked into a forgotten Biotechnica research shaft, and what they found inside wasn’t company property.

Stacked in sealed lockers, laid out like exhibits, were relics from a war no one in Night City remembers: the gear of specters known only in fragmented archives as Hunters. Masked executioners who once stalked agents of a fallen organization called the Division, their job was to erase the very people sent to save a dying world.

The tech shouldn’t have survived. It’s primitive by today’s standards, yet unnervingly advanced for the early 2020s. The vests still resist gunfire, the optics still glow blue, the sealed bags still hold their vacuum. Biotechnica files only labeled them “interdiction units” before cutting off entirely.

No one understands how half the gadgets still function, or why the damaged watches strapped to the backpack continue to pulse as if scanning for heartbeats that flatlined fifty years ago. But every piece recovered carried the same aura: these weren’t soldiers’ uniforms. They were something else, engineered to make ghosts out of men.

Now, this gear circulates in Night City, passed around in back-alley markets, worn by mercs who don’t know if they’re carrying history, tech, a curse, or a deadly combination of all three."
