Latest update: NIGHT CITY Vhs Tapes Box #1 (Calibrated for NOVA LUT, but can still work with ex. Cytropolis 2. 0 and Vanilla)

ATTENTION: The effect might induce motion sickness to some and if that is the case please turn of the handheld effect from the list or the whole effect

Quick Installation notes (Proper notes in the rar file):

- Install NOVA LUT

- Download ReShade_Setup_6. 6. 2 (you can also try the latest)

- Install all effects

- Drop BIN folder to its right location (It has all my own effects that are necessary)

- Start game

There is a known bug that .png files is missing. It is just and place holder for OSD layer and NOT necessary. Its a mistake by me and i will try to fix it asap.

- Click reshadepreset.ini in the top to change to a preset from the Tapepunk preset pack you are using.

TapePunk - VHS Reshade presets are a Reshade presets created for those who want to experience Night City through the lens of VHS tapes and camcorders. Rather than simply adding a "filter" over the game, this preset is an attempt to replicate the specific visual limitations and characteristics of worn-out magnetic tape and camcorder videos.

The goal was to move away from the clean, high-definition look of modern gaming and instead embrace the old analog vision, a world where future meets aging hardware.

Background:

One day I got interested in how VHS works; why it looks the way it does and why we remember it the way we do. I researched it for a few weeks and decided I wanted to try to recreate that look with Reshade, which I have used for many years in previous projects.

I posted demo video of a preset to r/LowSodiumCyberpunk, a friendly community for the game, originally just to ask for a few opinions and tips. The reception was completely unexpected and took me by surprise. The feedback was kind and very useful. It seemed to trigger something nostalgic in many of us. I even received advice from industry professionals, which I will be working on after this initial release to create an even more authentic VHS effect.

One comment in particular stuck with me: "I can’t explain it, but this is what nostalgia feels like. The exact feeling is this kind of 'filter' overlaid onto old memories." That is exactly what this project is at this moment: not a 100% perfect technical recreation, but an idealized version, just like our memories.
