NCPD Case Files
NCPD Case Files transforms Cyberpunk 2077’s police system into a persistent investigation and warrant network.
Escaping a pursuit no longer means the NCPD simply forgets what happened. Crimes can produce case files, witness statements, CCTV evidence, suspect identification, wanted-vehicle records, and district warrants that remain active after your wanted level disappears.
Features
Persistent Case Files
Criminal activity creates permanent NCPD records containing:
- Recorded offences
- Crime location and district
- Victim and witness counts
- Evidence collected
- Identification confidence
- Case severity and priority
- Accumulated bounty
- Current investigation status
Related crimes committed within a short period may be consolidated into the same case.
Witness Investigations
Nearby civilians who perceive a crime can become witnesses.
Witness reports are not necessarily immediate. Witnesses require time to submit statements, and witnesses who are killed or incapacitated before reporting may never provide evidence.
Visual witnesses generally provide stronger identification than people who only heard the incident.
CCTV Evidence
Functional surveillance cameras can record crimes occurring within their range and field of view.
Camera evidence can strengthen the NCPD’s identification of V. Destroying or disabling nearby cameras before committing a crime can reduce the evidence available to investigators.
Persistent District Warrants
When the evidence identifying V becomes strong enough, the NCPD can issue a warrant for the district where the associated crimes occurred.
- Persist after an ordinary police pursuit ends
- Accumulate bounty from contributing cases
- Track severity and threat level
- Remain active until cleared
- Affect patrol recognition and bounty-hunter activity
Multiple qualifying cases in the same district contribute to a consolidated warrant.
Police Recognition
Nearby NCPD officers can attempt to identify V when an active local warrant exists.
Recognition is influenced by:
- Available identification evidence
- Whether V is wearing face-covering equipment
- Whether V is inside a vehicle
- Officer visibility and line of sight
- Wanted-vehicle evidence
Losing sight of the officer interrupts the scan. A successful match can immediately restore police attention.
Wanted Vehicles
Vehicles connected to recorded crimes can become wanted independently of V.
The system tracks the specific vehicle rather than treating every vehicle of the same model as suspicious. Police may recognize a wanted vehicle even when they cannot prove who is driving it.
Bounty Hunters
High-value district warrants can attract hostile bounty-hunter crews.
Contracts are influenced by the warrant’s value, V’s Street Cred, and the current district. Depending on the location, V may encounter gang-affiliated hunters, nomads, or professional corporate teams.
Fixers may warn V shortly before a contracted crew arrives.
Fixer Negotiations
District fixers can contact V about active warrant contracts.
When an offer is available, V can:
- Pay the negotiated cost to clear the relevant warrant
- Decline the offer
- Ignore it and accept the risk
Each fixer uses dialogue appropriate to their personality and territory.
NCPD SUBCON Terminal
Case records are available through the native computer interface in V’s apartments.
Open an apartment computer and select the NCPD SUBCON tab to review:
- Active and historical cases
- Evidence reports
- Identification status
- Outstanding warrants
- Wanted vehicles
- Bounty totals
- Resolution and payment options
- System settings
The interface integrates with the computer’s existing visual style and supports different apartment computer skins and resolutions.
Warrant HUD
An optional compact NCPD warrant display appears below the minimap while V has an outstanding warrant.
The HUD automatically hides when:
- No warrant is active
- The option is disabled
- A full-screen menu is open
- The minim
