📋 About This Mod
DESENSITIZED NC
The city is loud. The people are jaded. Stop the screaming.
DESCRIPTION
This mod was born out of frustration—specifically, playing with mods like Night City Alive. When gang violence is cranked up to 11, driving down the street becomes a chorus of constant screaming and civilians cowering in fear.
From a lore perspective, it never sat right with me. Imagine walking to work in Night City. You see your 10th gang shootout of the week. After years of living in this dystopia, would you really scream and run for your life every single time a gun goes off? Or would you just roll your eyes, light a cigarette, and keep walking because you're already late?
DesensitizedNC changes the crowd AI to reflect a population that is completely numb to the violence around them. Guns are sold like candy here; death is just a statistic. This mod makes citizens react with annoyance rather than terror. They will only truly panic if the danger becomes immediate and undeniable (death or injury).
HOW IT WORKS
This mod hooks into the game's Reaction Manager to filter out specific panic triggers for bystanders.
Core Logic:
-
[] No Panic from Ambient Noise: Gunshots, explosions, and combat noises are filtered out based on your settings.
[
] Vocal Reactions: Instead of fleeing, citizens will often react vocally with annoyance, anger, or aggression. This adds life to the streets without breaking the flow.[] Adaptive Proximity: NPCs now possess a customizable "threat radius." If you discharge a weapon or cause an explosion directly next to them, they will bypass their jaded state and panic, ensuring they don't look completely lobotomized when a barrel is at their ear.
When do they still panic?
The "Desensitized" state isn't absolute blindness. NPCs will ALWAYS revert to vanilla panic behavior if:
-
[] Proximity Breach: A threat happens within your defined radius.
[] Witnessing Death: Someone dies in their immediate proximity.
[] Physical Harm: They are physically hit, bumped, or damaged.
OPTIONS
The mod comes with a native CET menu (Overlay) to tweak the experience on the fly.
Global Settings:
[] Enable Mod: Simple toggle to turn the entire script on or off.
[] Enable Vocal Reactions: Toggles ambient "barks" (annoyed/angry lines). Turn this off for total silence.
[*] Desensitized Population %: This sl
-
[] Proximity Breach: A threat happens within your defined radius.
DesensitizedNC is a gameplay mod for Cyberpunk 2077 that prevents Night City bystanders from panicking instantly at nearby violence. It adds a configurable slider to control how many citizens ignore gunshots, explosions, and fights unless physically hit, and includes vocal reactions for a more realistic experience. With 198 endorsements and 24,887 downloads, it's a niche but popular choice for players seeking more realistic crowd behavior.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 198 endorsements and over 24k downloads.
- Configurable slider gives you control over how many NPCs react, so you can tune it to your taste.
- Adds vocal reactions, making the world feel more alive and less scripted.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated December 2025 — may not be compatible with future game patches.
- Only affects panic behavior — if you want deeper AI changes, this won't cover that.
For Cyberpunk 2077 players who want more realistic crowd reactions and less chaotic panic during combat. If you're tired of every NPC screaming and running at the first gunshot, this mod gives you control. Skip if you prefer the vanilla chaos or want broader AI overhauls.
