Breach Netrunning

Description

The net was never a safe place. Now every upload is a fight over a live wire — you push a hack into someone's skull and they push back; somewhere in the middle a grid comes up and the clock starts. Breach your way past their ICE, chain programs for more powerful effects and pray your own firewall holds when the netrunner across the street decides it's your turn to taste death. The city hacks back now: it hacks back while running, while shooting, while you're still reading the header on the bar that's about to kill you.

Installation instructions

The mod's package has subfolders that mirror those of the game's install. Make sure you have the required mods installed and place all files from the package into the game install. Use Vortex in case of doubt.

Main features

BREACH EXECUTE — upgrade the hack before you cast it

Highlight a quickhack on an NPC and press B (keyboard) or Triangle (gamepad). The RAM leaves your reserves immediately, but nothing uploads — a Breach Protocol comes up first, and what you upload during it changes your hack:

• []Compress: claws back a slice of RAM you just spent.[/]

  []Root: bumps the hack a full rarity tier, free, on a cost you've already paid.[/]

  []Mutate Packets: the target has a lower chance of trying to defend and lower chance to succeed at it. Only avaiable in overt combat.[/]

  []Anti-Forensics: the hack becomes untraceable. Only available in stealth, can only be uploaded once.[/]

  []Worm: the program spreads.[/]

  []Breach: dive deeper into the target's system, lowering their defense chances and possibly making the hack even more powerful. But you gotta keep playing.[/]

  Breach chains another board, up to five times, each link deeper than the last — bigger grid, longer sequences, less clock — with everything you've already banked stacking the whole way down. Each link also strips one of the target's defense gates; run all five and a netrunner or self-ice user can't defend at all. Fail any link and it all goes: the RAM's spent, the chain's dead, and everything you weakened snaps back. The grid only ever offers what can still do something — no Root at Legendary, no Worm at max stacks, no dead picks.
