[]v1. 4: Now changes BOTH MALE AND FEMALE VERSIONS of the Better Timeworn Trenchcoat.[/]
**Apologies to anyone who's been asking for an update. It never should have taken this long. I was working on a bunch of different projects I was planning on releasing, but something came up and I've been out of the country for nearly a month. New mods coming soon. Stay tuned.**
Killing Placide in Cyberpunk 2077 is often cited as one of the most satisfying moments in the game. You get to send that twisted crotchety bastard straight to Hell, where he belongs. You get to take your revenge on every single one of those entitled sons of bitches that stabbed you in the back down in Pacifica. You also get a very nice Legendary quality leather coat (the Timeworn Trenchcoat). But while the female version of this looks at least somewhat decent, the male version looks like something V went and stole off a back-alley prostitute that he could barely squeeze his arms through by the time he tried it on:
There’s actually another item in the game’s archives that’s already fully meshed. We already see this kind of item on NPCs. Going through the archives, I ended up using 010 Editor to make a new texture trying to match Placide’s coat. Neither the mod nor the original really look like Placide’s coat, but I think this is at least an improvement in most ways. And at least this way, this thing is good for something other than making V look 50 shades of stupid. But while I was playing around with this, I also ended up finding a whole new way to make these kinds of mods:
SINGLE ITEM REPLACER METHOD
When I made this mod months back, it was just the texture + the normal model swap. But the problem with this method is that most of the items in this game are part of larger sets where every item uses the same mesh with different textures. Swapping the mesh meant EVERY ITEM that looks similar also gets changed instead of just the one I'm using. But after I finally got around to exploring the WolvenKit, I found a way to edit the files controlling the overall set so that ONLY THE ONE ITEM changes texture and mesh.
This mod ONLY CHANGES THE ONE ITEM while leaving all the other items in the set completely unchanged. If you install this into your game, ONLY THE TIMEWORN TRENCHCOAT WILL BE AFFECTED (and only the male variant).
To sum it all up, this mod contains a custom texture and edits files that govern the entire item set that contains the Timeworn Trenchcoat so that ONLY THE TIMEWORN TRENCHCOAT changes appearance. None of the o
This Cyberpunk 2077 mod replaces Placide's Timeworn Trenchcoat with a retextured Netrunner long coat, leaving other items untouched. It's a single-item cosmetic swap for players who want a cleaner look on that specific gear. With 800 endorsements and frequent updates, it's a popular choice for visual tweaks.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 800 endorsements and 34,969 downloads—clearly a hit.
- Targeted replacement means you don't have to worry about it messing with other gear.
- Gives Placide's coat a fresh look without overhauling the whole game.
⚠️ Cons
- Only changes one item—if you wanted a full clothing overhaul, this isn't it.
- No screenshots or install instructions in the description, so you're flying blind until you try it.
- Last updated in August 2024—might not be compatible with future game patches.
For Cyberpunk 2077 players who want to upgrade Placide's coat to the sleeker Netrunner style without touching other clothing. Perfect for fashion-focused runners who like subtle tweaks. Skip if you're looking for a comprehensive clothing mod or gameplay changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a single item replacer, just drop the files into your mod folder—no need for a mod manager, but using one like Vortex makes uninstalling easier.
- Make sure you have the base game updated to at least the version from August 2024 to avoid conflicts.
- If you don't see the change, check that you've picked up the Timeworn Trenchcoat from Placide—it's a specific drop.
