Auto Crowd Density

This mod will adjust crowd density on the fly. In mod settings you can choose desired density for less demanding gameplay, and another density for more demanding gameplay. Additionally, mod can adjust HDD mode, too.

How to use it:

The recommended way of using this mod is to set static crowd density to your current crowd density, and dynamic crowd density to one lower. HDD mode requires experimentation on your end, as from my testing on my devices - when HDD mode is on, it can introduce stutters eg. in Dogtown. Basically, you want to lower your settings in demanding scenarios, instead of increasing them in not demanding scenarios.

Enabled:

Simply controls if mod is on or off.

Static crowd density:

This settings controls crowd density in less demanding scenarios, in a normal gameplay.

Dynamic crowd density:

This setting controls crowd density in more demanding scenarios, like sprinting, being in combat with a few enemies, or being in general in Dogtown.

Dynamic HDD mode:

This setting adjusts HDD mode. Never means HDD mode will never be adjusted. Outside Dogtown means HDD mode will be turned on while sprinting, fighting, but only outside Dogtown (so no HDD mode on in Dogtown). Always means HDD mode will be turned on while sprinting or fighting anywhere, and will be turned off when demanding gameplay stops.

Advanced settings:

Under advanced settings you can customize exact triggers for dynamic crowd density, or HDD mode. Customize mod to your liking.

Slow HDD mode:

Available under advanced settings. This is a hidden game setting, it can be just turned on or off. From my testing on Steam Deck (limited hardware capabilities) it did nothing really. But some people reported to acknowledge some differences, so it is here.

Notice:

To really use Astonishing crowd density, you first need a mod that will unlock this setting. Otherwise, Astonishing will be treated as High crowd density.

Known issues:

You might see NPC disappearing / spawning from thin air more often.

I've tested this mod on both my Steam Deck and my gaming laptop, in both cases I have experienced more stable FPS. On Steam Deck I recommend medium static crowd density, low dynamic crowd density, dynamic HDD mode outside Dogtown, and slow HDD mode off.
