Realistic Map Icons

Realistic Map Icons replaces Crimson Desert’s individual world-map landmark illustrations with detailed, grounded artwork designed to complement the game’s parchment-map presentation.

Towns, castles, farms, temples, ruins, factories, forests, magical sites, and many other locations now use richer materials, natural colors, weathered details, and clearer silhouettes. The goal is to give every landmark a more believable appearance while keeping the map clean and easy to read.

This is a visual icon replacement—not a world-map overhaul. It does not alter the map background, layout, labels, filters, navigation, menus, quests, gameplay, or interface behavior.

Main Features

  • []Replaces all 264 individual world-map landmark textures found in the Crimson Desert 2. 03. 02 clean-game baseline.[/]

[]Detailed, grounded illustrations with natural stone, wood, metal, foliage, cloth, water, ice, and magical materials.[/]

[]Deeper natural midtones and restrained saturation for a realistic, weathered appearance.[/]

[]Carefully controlled greens and yellows so foliage, crops, and brightly colored materials retain their internal detail instead of becoming indistinct blobs.[/]

[]Preserves meaningful cool, magical, and faction-specific colors where they help special locations remain recognizable.[/]

[]Adds a thin charcoal-brown outline around each landmark to improve separation from the light parchment map.[/]

[]Preserves the original texture dimensions, transparent backgrounds, canvas placement, and expected DDS format.[/]

[]Covers settlements, farms, workshops, mills, factories, forts, towers, temples, monasteries, ruins, tombs, forests, lakes, caves, Abyss locations, and other special landmarks.[/]

[]Visual textures only—no scripts, gameplay tables, executable modifications, or save-game changes.[/]

[]Independently created artwork with no texture pixels taken from another map-icon mod.[/]

Scope

This package changes the large illustrated landmarks shown on the world map.

It intentionally does not replace:

  • []The underlying world map or terrain artwork.[/]

[]Map labels, roads, borders, filters, menus, or navigation.[/]

    []The shared cd_icon_worldmap_00.dds interface and circular-icon atlas.[/]

[]Small circular markers that use the excluded shared atlas.[/]

[]Minimap icons or minimap interface textures.[/]

[]Any gameplay systems or location data.[/]

Requirements

  • []Crimson Desert[/]

[]Built and structurally validated against Crimson Desert 2. 03. 02[/]

[]Definitive Mod Manager (DMM), version 3. 2. 1 or newer[/]

[]The latest available DMM version is recommended[/]

[]No DLC, ASI loader, gameplay framework, or additional dependency is required[/]

Future game updates may add, remove, or change texture paths. Check the Files or Changelog section after a major Crimson Desert update before assuming that an older release has been verified against the new game build.

Installation

  • []Install or update Definitive Mod Manager.[/]

[]Complete DMM’s initial setup and allow it to establish its clean-game baseline or Vanilla Vault if you have not already done so.[/]

[]Download the Realistic Map Icons ZIP from the Files section.[/]

[]Leave the downloaded ZIP intact—do not manually copy its DDS files into the game archives.[/]

[]Import the ZIP into DMM using its normal Import/Add Mod function. If Nexus Mod Manager Download integration is available, you may use that instead.[/]

[]Enable Realistic Map Icons in your DMM mod list.[/]

[]Apply or mount your enabled mods.[/]

[]Launch Crimson Desert and open the world map to view the new landmark artwork.[/]

The game should be closed while DMM is applying or removing files.

Compatibility and Conflicts

Any other mod that replaces the same world-map landmark DDS files will conflict with this mod. The package that wins those texture paths in DMM’s priority or conflict order will provide the icon seen in game.

For the most consistent appearance, use only one world-map landmark replacer at a time.

Mods that change unrelated gameplay data, character textures, HUD elements, map labels, or other UI files should not conflict unless they also contain one of the same landmark texture paths.

Please report any landmark that appears incorrectly sized, clippe
