Modern Air Combat Demonstration 2 – “Operation Thunder” 2025.5.7 India-Pakistan Air Battle

Title: Operation Swift Thunder - Indo-Pakistani Air Clash, 7 May 2025 Scenario Background: In the early morning of May 7, 2025, the Indian Air Force launched Operation Sindoor, a cross-border air campaign targeting suspected militant camps within Pakistan and deploying multiple fighter jets deep into Pakistani airspace. This action was a retaliatory strike against recent terrorist attacks in the Kashmir region. The Indian Air Force employed a forward press tactic, rapidly deploying Su-30MKI, Rafale, and MiG-29 formations from airfields near the border in an attempt to suppress Pakistan's eastern air defense network and conduct precision strikes. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) quickly went on high alert. With early warning provided by the Saab 2000 "Erieye" AWACS aircraft, and the elite forces of the 15th Squadron's "Cobra" J-10CEs and the 16th Squadron's "Panther" JF-17 Block 3s (equipped with PL-15E beyond-visual-range missiles), the PAF successfully intercepted the invading Indian aircraft. In this modern air combat, the Pakistan Air Force demonstrated superior beyond-visual-range combat (BVR) capabilities, command and coordination, and electronic warfare superiority, ultimately shooting down multiple Indian aircraft with minimal losses of its own. Scenario Design and Teaching Focus This scenario is designed as a CMO (Combat Mobile Operator) tutorial for beginners. Players take on the role of a Pakistan Air Force commander (Blue Side), focusing on learning the core elements of modern air combat: AWACS Command and Guidance: Establishing long-range early warning and data links. Use of Beyond-Visual-Range Missiles (PL-15E, PL-12): Mastering range advantage and timing of firing. Air-Ground Coordination: Airspace division and coordination between ground-based air defense missiles (HQ-9BE, HQ-16A) and fighter jets. Electronic Warfare: Radar Radiated Containment Management (EMCON) and electronic jamming. Mission Planning: Establishing an effective CAP (Combat Air Patrol) a
