Cuba Libre

USA vs USSR/Cuba Spring of 1988 - The Castro Regime in Cuba has demanded the immediate return of the Guantanamo Bay facilities back to Cuban control. President Reagan has steadfastly ignored the Cuban ultimatum, and has warned that force will be used if necessary to protect the base. As tensions gradually rise, Moscow continues to back Cuba, by first flooding the Caribbean with submarines and then basing a large contingent of Soviet aircraft on the island to bolster the Cuban Air Force. After discovering that 2 Soviet Surface Action Groups are bound for the Island escorting a Soviet convoy carrying supplies and troops for the Soviet Support units based in Cuba; the President decides to invade Cuba before they arrive. A Marine amphibious assault force is dispatched from Camp Lejeune to establish a beachhead near the Nacaro port; while another convoy from Camp Pendleton is en rout to Guantanamo Bay via the Panama Canal carrying reinforcements to reinforce the base. (This scenario is a created by Bill McKane. The scenario is a modification of a scenario found in the General magazine Volume 27, Number 2. The original concept I assume is created by Thomas Dworschak)
