Caribean Gauntlet

Original Concept By: Bill Mckane Date: May 1987 Location: Caribbean USA vs USSRPlayable Side: USADuration: 11 hours In the mid 1980's, the left-wing Sandinistas and the US supported Contras were skirmishing for control over the Nicaraguan Government. The USSR warned the US against providing support to the Contras and threatened to send a naval group to thwart any US resource ships engaged in such support. A Soviet Surface Group is heading to Cuba to temporarily port in Nicaro. The US Naval Southern Commander over the Caribbean area is assigned to make sure that the Soviet Surface Fleet, which is believed to be led by the Battlecruiser Kirov, does not make it to Nicaro. Among your available assets is a surface group led by the Battleship New Jersey. (Designers note: This scenario is designed to focus on surface vs surface engagement, intended to help players hone basic surface combat acumen within the game. No fixed wing aircraft, nor submarine units are involved, however typical helicopter units assigned to the individual ships will be involved.)
