Dragon Fire, 2015

This scenario is an adaptation of the book 'Dragon Fire: The Battle for the Falklands' by Peter von Bleichert. The core of that short novel is the ASW battle between HMS Dragon and ARA San Luis II somewhere north of the Falkland/Malvinas Islands during a fictional Second Falklands War. You are able to play as ether HMS Dragon or ARA San Luis II. There is no scoring in this scenario given it's simple, small scope. Whichever vessel is left afloat is the winner. HMS Dragon is commanded by Captain Lawrence Fryatt, a career Royal Navy sailor and survivor of the sinking of HMS Sheffield in the first Falkands War. HMS Dragon was on patrol in the Norwegian Sea when notified of the Argentinian invasion of the Falklands, and was dispatched to join with HMS Iron Duke, a frigate that was headed home from Port Stanley when the war started. However, Iron Duke had suffered serious damage and needs to be towed to Ascenion Island for emergency repairs before returning to the UK. The report was that the stormy conditions Iron Duke was sailing in caused a magazine detonation, but Captain Fryatt strongly suspects that an Argentinian Submarine was responsible.......... ARA San Luis II is a Russian built Kilo class submarine commanded by Captain de Navio Jamie Matias, a skilled submariner who is committed to his duty, but does not believe in the war he is fighting. ARA San Luis II was destined to join the Indian Navy, but a contract dispute led to Russia trading her to Argentina in exchange for supplies of copper. On patrol north of the Islas Malvinas, Captain Matias located and torpedoed Iron Duke and, seeing her being crippled, decided to not finish her off, saving lives and torpedoes for other targets.........
